Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Isaias Woods! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Drew Petrie! The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Damien Edna and Hugh Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Woods shoots and misses and Petrie counters with a one-two to the body. Woods just misses with a punch to the body.
Woods shoots in for a takedown but Petrie shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Petrie misses with a few strikes there.
Petrie lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Woods at a distance.
Petrie throws a one two combo.
It looks like Isaias Woods has been cut. Petrie stuffs the takedown. Petrie looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Isaias Woods. That's going to take a lot out of him. Woods on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. Petrie tries to bum rush Woods with a series of wild strikes but Woods uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Woods is looking to counter the offense by Petrie and move into the clinch. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Petrie fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Petrie lands a nice hook to Woods's body. Woods takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Woods takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Woods tries to close the distance and clinch but Petrie swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Nice uppercut lands for Petrie. That snapped Woods's head back.
That's one minute gone in the round. Woods gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Petrie lands a takedown into guard.

Woods really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Petrie slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Petrie accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Petrie must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Petrie won't allow Woods to get back to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Woods keeping moving, preventing Petrie from controlling successfully. Woods will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Petrie prevents Woods from getting back to his feet. Woods looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Petrie postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Petrie stopping the sweep attempt from Woods. Woods is breathing heavily. Petrie with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Petrie landing with the ground and pound. Woods looking to control.
Woods is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
This has been an exciting period of action! Petrie is looking for a sweep. Woods is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Petrie is not content to let Woods control the position. Woods throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Petrie can do anything to dispel that myth. Woods seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Woods is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Petrie defends it well. Petrie throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Woods sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Petrie defending well though. Petrie keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Woods seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Petrie does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Petrie is trying to get back to full guard. Petrie is positioning himself well to prevent Woods advancing to mount.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Drew Petrie is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Woods walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. Woods tries for a takedown but Petrie circles away easily and Petrie cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Petrie lands a lovely overhand right. Petrie displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Woods. Petrie scores with a nice right hand.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Drew Petrie dominated that round. The cut man is working on Isaias Woods's cut. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Woods shoots in looking for a takedown but Petrie manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Woods's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. A cross from Petrie lands. A punch lands to the side of Woods 's head but he takes it in his stride. Petrie ducks down and throws a hook to the body. Petrie misses with a jab, cross combination.
Sloppy strikes from Woods. Those never looked like landing. Petrie is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own. Petrie lands a jab. Woods takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it. Petrie lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Woods circles away quickly and effectively. Petrie connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt. Petrie moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Petrie throws a series of punches but Woods avoids them all with ease.
That's one minute gone in the round. Petrie scores with a one two! Woods had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Woods is rocked! Woods misses with a wild combination.
Oh Woods is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! and Petrie counters with a massive uppercut that badly hurts Woods! He's just covering up as Petrie starts to tee off till the referee steps in and stops the fight!
