Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Richard Mcconnell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and JJ May (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Richard Mcconnell! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, JJ May! The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! May tries to close the distance and clinch but Mcconnell swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Mcconnell looked to counter with a high kick but didn't commit. May shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Mcconnell is looking to improve his position.
May controlling the pace. May seems to be looking for submissions.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. May takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. May trying to mount his opponent but Mcconnell defends it. Mcconnell is looking to get back to full guard here but May has managed to pass to side control instead.
That's one minute gone in the round. May decides to stand up, so the ref orders Mcconnell to his feet. Mcconnell pulls out of a head kick attempt.
May looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Mcconnell! May working away. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. An elbow from May crashes against the mat.
Mcconnell tries to bench press May off him but May keeps the position. May trying to control the action but Mcconnell is working from the bottom. Mcconnell is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mcconnell can't do much from the bottom here. Mcconnell tries to bench press May off him but May keeps the position. May stands up and beckons Mcconnell to his feet. Mcconnell gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows May to score an easy takedown into full guard. May trying to control but Mcconnell is working from the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. May with a flurry of punches that miss. Mcconnell is trying to control the position but May postures up. Mcconnell bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in May's guard. May is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Mcconnell stops May from standing up. Mcconnell missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Mcconnell with a nice head shot there. May looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
May is trying to keep Mcconnell in close.
Mcconnell in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! May blocks a head kick by Mcconnell.

JJ May dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
May shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Mcconnell manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. May pushing down on Mcconnell's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Mcconnell tries to roll over but May keeps him under control. Mcconnell trying to control from the bottom.
Mcconnell is looking for a sweep. May is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. May moves into full mount! Mcconnell won't be happy about that! We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. May punching from mount but Mcconnell doing a good job of avoiding damage. Mcconnell is looking to get to half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. May throwing shots from mount but they're not landing. May trying to control but he's not successful this time. May thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage. May can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Mcconnell is looking to escape. Mcconnell is trying desperately to improve position. Mcconnell blocking the ground and pound. Mcconnell is trying desperately to improve position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. May wants to control the action but instead Mcconnell gets a body lock and reverses into May's guard! Nice work! May seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. May has been the more effective fighter overall so far. May looking to control.
May is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully. Mcconnell avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

May is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. May avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. May tries to land a sweep but no joy.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Mcconnell throws a big elbow that misses.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. May connects with a leg kick. Mcconnell looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it. Mcconnell moves out of range as May strikes. Mcconnell swats away the attempt to clinch by May. A quick step to the side and Mcconnell tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect. JJ May seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Mcconnell circles away from the clinch attempt.
May closes the distance and pushes Mcconnell back into the cage. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! May pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. May fails to land with a series of punches.
Mcconnell thinks about countering with a head kick. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
JJ May showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!
May shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Mcconnell tries to get to full guard but May has control of the leg. May decides to stand up. Mcconnell throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. May tries to close the distance and clinch but Mcconnell swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mcconnell swats away the attempt to clinch by May. May's jab looks to have found its range, popping Mcconnell under the eye.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mcconnell uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by May.
May tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Mcconnell manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Excellent takedown into side control there by May. Mcconnell manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Mcconnell gets back to full guard.
Mcconnell is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. May is aware though and is defending well. Mcconnell is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. May gets to his feet. Mcconnell looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
That's two minutes gone in the round. May shoots in for a takedown and gets it. May takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Mcconnell is staying active underneath May, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Mcconnell tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land. May with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Mcconnell is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment. May is looking to advance position but Mcconnell won't allow it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mcconnell gets full guard. May trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Mcconnell is trying to control the position from the bottom.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. May throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Mcconnell tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. May is in Mcconnell's guard. May postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Mcconnell is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of May, into his guard. Mcconnell postures up and lands a big shot to May's brow.
That's four minutes gone in the round. May is looking for a triangle here but Mcconnell uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
JJ May is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Mcconnell is trying to get an arm triangle but May is defending well. Richard Mcconnell has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Mcconnell is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but May is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
And that's the end of the fight! JJ May comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well May has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
