Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Rafael Zapelini (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vitor Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gracie comes into a darkened arena with his song building. The Pitbull is back! kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rafael Zapelini! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Vitor Gracie! The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Luis Engracia and Emerson Jorge.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gracie looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Gracie is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Gracie scoring with strikes to the body and head. Gracie not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Zapelini is trying to stand.
Gracie is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Zapelini is just riding it out for now. Gracie eventually gives up the hold. Nice strikes from Gracie there. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Gracie sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Zapelini defending well though. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Gracie winds up and cracks Zapelini with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Gracie looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Gracie landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Zapelini avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Gracie.

Gracie thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Gracie takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Gracie winds up and cracks Zapelini with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Zapelini manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Gracie keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage. Zapelini lands an elbow inside. Zapelini unloads a knee to the mid-section. Gracie lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh. Zapelini stops a takedown attempt from Gracie.

Zapelini looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio. Zapelini drops down looking for an ankle pick but Gracie pulls his leg out and moves away.
Gracie closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Zapelini's guard. Gracie looks winded! Gracie postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Zapelini working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Gracie. Gracie distracts Zapelini with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Zapelini is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Gracie works over Zapelini with some ground and pound from guard. Gracie throwing strikes but missing. Gracie has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Gracie in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Gracie throws a big right hand that misses.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Gracie swats away the attempt to clinch by Zapelini. The fight stays on the outside here - Zapelini looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Zapelini throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.

He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Zapelini's half guard. Zapelini is trying to stand up here but Gracie is controlling him well. Gracie working Zapelini over with strikes. Zapelini keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Zapelini tries to clinch but Gracie moves out of range. Zapelini slaps away a takedown attempt from Gracie, before circling back to the center of the mat. Zapelini pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Zapelini stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Gracie swivels though and keeps the full guard. Zapelini would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Zapelini tries to clinch up and Gracie counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Gracie. The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Zapelini shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Gracie sprawls well. Oh Zapelini is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Gracie scores with a couple of short elbows. Gracie landing with strikes to the head and body from side control. Gracie lands a nice forearm strike. Gracie landing strikes. Gracie cracks Zapelini with a big right hand but Zapelini just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Zapelini gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there! Gracie pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Gracie unloads with some vicious shots from mount and Zapelini wants out - he looks towards the referee who steps in to save him! Gracie celebrates on the cage and the crowd goes wild!
