PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Emmett Brown (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chibi Tsushima (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the bantamweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Emmett Brown!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 23 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Chibi Tsushima!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Shirou Masuda and Yuuki Gou.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brown cracks Tsushima with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Brown dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Brown tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Tsushima was well out of range. Poor timing from Brown.
Tsushima dives in and grabs Brown's left leg, looking for a takedown. Brown pushes down on Tsushima's head and hops out.
Tsushima shoots and misses
and Brown counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Tsushima closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Brown sneaks back into half guard.
Brown is staying active underneath Tsushima, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Tsushima is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Brown wants to improve his position but Tsushima is controlling well.

Tsushima is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Brown is looking to improve his position.

Brown makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Brown.
Tsushima looking to pass the guard.
Tsushima lands a couple of decent looking shots.

Brown looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Tsushima has picked Brown up and slammed him! Brown can't keep hold of the triangle and Tsushima manages to pass to side control!
Tsushima has knee on belly momentarily but Brown bucks him off and regains half guard.

Brown wants to improve his position but Tsushima is controlling well.

Tsushima is working for a kimura but Brown is defending it quite comfortably.
Brown won't allow Tsushima to pass to mount.
Brown is looking to control Tsushima's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Brown avoid being mounted?
Brown manages to get to full guard.

Brown had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Tsushima defends it easily.

Tsushima stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Brown swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Tsushima is still trying to improve position.
Tsushima is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Brown looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Brown is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Tsushima defends well.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Tsushima is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Brown's half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chibi Tsushima dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Tsushima takes one to the side of the head.

Tsushima shoots in and bounces Brown off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Brown looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Tsushima wants to free his trapped foot but Brown is holding on for dear life with his legs.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Brown is looking for a sweep. Tsushima is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Brown wants to control but Tsushima is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Tsushima is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Brown really trying hard to get back to half guard here.

Tsushima jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Brown is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Brown and Tsushima has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Tsushima scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Brown to see if he's OK.
Tsushima advances to mount.
Brown regains half guard.
Tsushima is looking to advance position but Brown won't allow it.
Tsushima passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Brown!

Tsushima is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Brown to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Brown shrugs it off.
Brown bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
Tsushima is trying to hold Brown in close to prevent damage but Brown has managed to pass into half guard.
Tsushima has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at Tōshi. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.
Chibi Tsushima has got the better of the ground game so far.

Brown is trying to control. Tsushima wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Tsushima is pressing down on Brown's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Brown trying to move into half guard but instead Tsushima has managed to sweep!

Brown bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Tsushima's guard.

Brown trying to control the position from guard on top but Tsushima is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Tsushima not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Tsushima pulls Brown in close to prevent any damage.
Brown has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Brown wants to control from the top but Tsushima keeps moving.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chibi Tsushima showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Brown leaves Tsushima with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Tsushima has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Brown.
Brown fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Tsushima on the side of the head.
Tsushima uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Brown.
Tsushima was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Tsushima.

Tsushima scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Brown is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at Masaru Fighting Systems, so we'll see if he gets out of it.
Brown gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
Brown is trying desperately to improve position.
Brown sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Tsushima is keen to just control but Brown is a slippery customer.
Brown moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Brown is trying to keep Tsushima in close.
Tsushima tries to free his leg and advance position but Brown is retaining full guard.
Brown can't keep his opponent in guard - Tsushima advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Tsushima has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Tsushima is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Brown defends it well.
Brown is in trouble now - Tsushima has advanced to mount!

Brown bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Tsushima working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Brown doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Tsushima is tightening it up a little... Brown has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Brown reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Brown taps out! Nice BJJ there by Tsushima!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:29 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Chibi Tsushima!

Chibi Tsushima gave a mention to Steel Penn's Laundry 80% LAUNDRY IS AVAILABLE in his post fight interview. That will please them (and hopefully generate some sales).
