Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Hiram Zamora! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Tyson Forbes! The judges for this bout are Darius Henderson, Bruno Hogan and John Mangel.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Zamora fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Forbes feints the counter takedown. Forbes keeps the fight on the outside. Forbes gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Zamora wants to break free but Forbes has control.
Zamora is trying to maintain a safe position but Forbes gets an underhook and turns Zamora into the cage. Zamora is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body. Zamora wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Forbes has him pressed against the cage. Forbes has Zamora pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Zamora manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Forbes is trying to push Zamora away but Zamora has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Forbes is pushing Zamora up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word. Forbes has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
That's one minute gone in the round. Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Zamora. Forbes lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage. Zamora really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Forbes drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Zamora slowing the pace effectively. Forbes has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Zamora after a bit of a struggle. Hiram Zamora has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tyson Forbes. Forbes fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Forbes is trying to pull guard but Zamora has him pressed against the cage. Forbes is working for takedown but Zamora is calmly controlling the position for now.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Come on Forbes - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Both guys are working to get underhooks. Forbes breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Zamora misses with a jab to the body
and Forbes counters with a deadly accurate combination that rocks Zamora badly! He tries to strike back but Forbes puts an end to that with another precision combo that knocks Zamora out cold! Oh man, Zamora will never hear the end of this one!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:32 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Tyson Forbes!
