Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Helio Gracie!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Scott Mcginty!
The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Santiago Holmes and Dirk Anderson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mcginty scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Gracie shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Mcginty dips to his left and cracks Gracie with an uppercut!
It looks like Helio Gracie has been cut.
Gracie has been working on his balance at Golden Gym, so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by Mcginty.
Gracie tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Mcginty manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Mcginty's coach down at Fitness elite 24/7 was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Mcginty's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Mcginty lands a nice hook to Gracie's body. Gracie takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Mcginty lands a big right hand that sends Gracie crashing to the mat! Mcginty stays standing though and waves Gracie back to his feet!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Gracie takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Gracie is breathing heavily.
Mcginty cracks Gracie with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Mcginty has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Gracie to stand back up!
Gracie is rocked!
Mcginty cracks Gracie with a left hook right on the temple and Gracie goes down! He's out! Referee! Stop the fight! Mcginty lands a few more punches before the dopey ref steps in - hopefully Gracie is OK!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:30 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Scott Mcginty!
After winning the bout, Scott Mcginty thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
