Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Shintaro Nomo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matt Brown (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Brown has chosen Rob Zombie - Dragula as his entrance music. Shintaro Nomo has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Shintaro Nomo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Matt Brown!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Sosuke Kotani and Ren Mimura.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brown throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Nomo staying out of range there.
Nomo drops down looking for a counter takedown but Brown sprawls and moves away.
A looping hook to the body misses from Nomo. Brown does a little dance to reset his feet.
Nomo just misses with a punch to the body.
Brown takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Brown keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Nomo on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.


It looks like Shintaro Nomo has been cut.

Nomo scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Nomo cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Brown holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Nomo tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Nomo throwing strikes here but Brown is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Nomo is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Brown has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Brown!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Brown must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Nomo is looking for a triangle but Brown pushes his legs off easily.

Nomo throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Nomo is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Brown can do to turn this around?
Brown comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Matt Brown is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Brown swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Nomo shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Brown sprawls well. Brown wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Nomo gets slowly back to his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Nomo connects with a right hand. Brown shakes it off.

and Nomo counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Nomo avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Nomo cracks Brown with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Nomo.


Brown is rocked!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Nomo wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Brown, who protects the arm well.

Brown is not content to let Nomo control the position.

Nomo looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Brown is avoiding damage well.

Nomo is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Nomo wants to lay and pray for a moment but Brown keeps working.
Brown really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Nomo. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Brown parries the strikes from Nomo easily there. Nomo is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Brown to escape.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Nomo is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Brown has escaped the position, nice work there.
Nomo wants to control but Brown is keeping him busy.
Brown is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
Nomo tries to score with some ground and pound. Brown controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Nomo advances nicely into full mount.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Brown tries to close the distance and clinch but Nomo swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Brown tries a head kick but it misses.
Nomo dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Brown. That did some damage!
Brown moves out of range of the body kick.
Nomo connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
It looks like Nomo has been trying to sharpen up his punching technique, as it looks crisper than last time we saw him.
Brown tries a head kick but it misses.
Nomo takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Nomo fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Brown manages to avoid it.
Nomo bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Brown's head.

Nomo shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Brown napping and manages to drive through into side control!
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Brown avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Nomo.
Brown is trying to get back to his feet.

Nomo has an Americana. Brown didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Nomo is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Nomo hooks up with any of them at the after show party.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:58 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Shintaro Nomo!
A very excited looking Shintaro Nomo made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
