Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Vitor Gouveia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Thiago Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vitor Gouveia could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Thiago Silva's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Vitor Gouveia!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Thiago Silva!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Leandro Rodrigues and Felipe Paraventi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gouveia defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Silva.
A combination from Gouveia does no damage.
Gouveia tries to clinch there but Silva circles away.
Gouveia is looking to clinch but Silva is avoiding it.
Gouveia darts in trying to clinch
and Silva counters with an inside leg kick.

Silva closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Gouveia's guard.
Silva looking to sit in guard and control but Gouveia gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Silva seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gouveia has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Silva is proving hard to escape from.

Silva managing to control the position.
Gouveia definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

Silva scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Gouveia throws a combination that misses
and Silva counters with a big head kick but Gouveia shrugs it off.
Silva tries to close the distance and clinch up but Gouveia swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Silva will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Silva shoots in for a double leg but Gouveia sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Silva dives in for a single leg takedown but Gouveia sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Vitor Gouveia has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Thiago Silva.

Silva circles away from the clinch attempt.
Silva is looking for the big counter here.
Gouveia tries to clinch but Silva moves out of range.
Silva is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Silva.

and Silva counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Silva is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Gouveia is trying to stand up here but Silva is controlling him well.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Silva in particular looking to stall.
Silva not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

Gouveia wants to stand back up but Silva manages to pass into side control.

Silva is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Gouveia has escaped the position, nice work there.
Silva works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.

Gouveia is pushing Silva's head away, looking to escape. Silva manages to hold on to the position though.
Gouveia knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Silva on the ground.

Silva working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Silva advances to mount.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Silva misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Silva has Gouveia up against the cage in a clinch.

Silva jumps guard.
Silva has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Silva manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
Silva tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Gouveia manages to break the clinch.

Gouveia rushes Silva and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Gouveia throws an elbow that misses.
Silva looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Gouveia misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Silva.

Gouveia manages to break the clinch.
Gouveia feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Silva's calf.
Danga de danga de dang - Gouveia scores with a four punch combination!
Vitor Gouveia seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Gouveia tries to close the distance and clinch but Silva swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Silva steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Gouveia.
Gouveia fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Silva manages to avoid it.

Silva throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Gouveia was covering up waiting for the punch and Silva finishes the takedown easily into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Silva wants to control from the top but Gouveia keeps moving.
Silva is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Silva gets to his feet. Gouveia looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Vitor Gouveia is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Gouveia falls off balance throwing a combination

and Silva decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Gouveia's guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Silva throwing strikes from guard but Gouveia blocks nicely.
Silva not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Silva pushes down on Gouveia's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Silva is trying to work for a kimura but Gouveia is defending well.
Silva content to control rather than advance.
Thiago Silva has got the better of the ground game so far.

Silva stands up and beckons Gouveia to join him on the feet.

Gouveia gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Gouveia can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Silva controls the pace.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Silva stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Gouveia swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Silva stands up and waves to Gouveia to follow him.

Gouveia clinches up with Silva and pushes him back against the cage.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Silva keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Gouveia's efforts to push away.
Silva has Gouveia pressed against the cage, preventing Gouveia from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Thiago Silva showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Silva shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Gouveia sprawls well. Gouveia wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Silva gets slowly back to his feet.

Gouveia breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Silva moves out of range of the strikes.
Gouveia throws the kick towards the body but Silva avoids it.
Silva tries to score a power double leg takedown but Gouveia sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Silva somewhat.

Gouveia swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Gouveia works over Silva's head and body with a nice combination.
Gouveia moves in looking to clinch but Silva pushes him off.
Silva tries a head kick but it misses.
Silva tries to clinch there but Gouveia circles away.

and Silva moves into the clinch.
Silva tries to pull guard but Gouveia forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Vitor Gouveia has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Thiago Silva.
Gouveia prevents the takedown attempt.

Gouveia breaks from the clinch.
Gouveia doesn't manage to clinch there - Silva circles away.
Gouveia lets his hands go wild with a nice combination. Left! Right! Uppercut! Spinning backfist! Silva goes down and covers up as Gouveia starts wailing on him! The ref watches the action closely before stepping in and putting a stop to the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:32 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Vitor Gouveia!
