Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Ron Lemieux (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dave Gomes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lemieux's entrance music is Sliwa. A fine choice. Gomes has chosen Roadhouse Blues as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the bantamweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
25 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ron Lemieux! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
12 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Dave Gomes! The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Phil Schofield and William Gold.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gomes throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Lemieux tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Gomes is in Lemieux's guard. Gomes sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Lemieux's guard. Lemieux is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Lemieux really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Gomes with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Lemieux looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Lemieux is looking for a sweep. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Lemieux is trying to maintain the position but Gomes is very close to passing his half guard. That's one minute gone in the round. Gomes wants to control but Lemieux is keeping him busy. Lemieux is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Gomes pulls his head out easily. Gomes is taking a breather. Lemieux says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Lemieux is looking to improve his position.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Lemieux is trying to maintain the position but Gomes is very close to passing his half guard.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Lemieux misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Gomes decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Lemieux's coaches at Guinness Stout have been working on his defensive grappling in preparation for this fight so let's see if he can get out of this tricky position. Lemieux looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Gomes seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Lemieux does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Lemieux wants to control but Gomes is having none of it. Lemieux is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control. Lemieux sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though. Gomes perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Gomes seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Lemieux does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Lemieux looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Gomes takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Lemieux is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Dave Gomes dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
A momentary lapse in concentration from Lemieux enables Gomes to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Lemieux manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Lemieux working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Gomes doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Gomes manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Gomes sitting in guard doing not very much at all here. Lemieux doesn't need a second invitation though! He's locked up a guillotine and he's squeezing tight! That is tiiiiiiiiight! Gomes paying the price for stalling here - he's pushing hard on the arm trying to free himself but it's no use! He's tapped! WOW, quick submission from Lemieux - great work!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:31 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Ron Lemieux! Ron Lemieux retains his bantamweight title!
