PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Leon Lance (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alexander Engelbreckt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Engelbreckt has chosen If I had a heart as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Leon Lance!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Alexander Engelbreckt!
The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Saam Ante and Wagner Zegers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A big left from Lance misses.
A swing and a miss from Lance.
Lance paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.

Engelbreckt scores with a hook to the body. Lance takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
A slapping leg kick lands for Engelbreckt.
Good exchange - Lance coming out on top.

Lance gets tackled into the cage by Engelbreckt. Engelbreckt maintains the clinch.
Lance looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Engelbreckt ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Engelbreckt no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Engelbreckt manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Lance manages to get himself to full guard.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Lance is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Engelbreckt defends well.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Engelbreckt has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Lance is proving hard to escape from.

Engelbreckt fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Lance looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Engelbreckt is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Engelbreckt's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Engelbreckt tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Engelbreckt has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Engelbreckt decides to stand up, so the ref orders Lance to his feet.
Lance moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Engelbreckt tries to clinch but Lance is having none of it.
Lance seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
Engelbreckt moves away from the strike by Lance.
Lance misses with an uppercut
and Engelbreckt counters with a good, hard body kick but Lance shrugs it off.
Lance scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lance throws a lazy right hand but Engelbreckt sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Lance looks to land a combination but Engelbreckt avoids it well.
Engelbreckt slips a straight right by Lance.
Lance throws a series of punches but Engelbreckt avoids them all with ease.

Engelbreckt fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Lance sprawls well initially but Engelbreckt persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Engelbreckt tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Lance.

Engelbreckt is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Lance sees it coming and defends easily.
Lance is looking to control Engelbreckt's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Lance avoid being mounted?
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Engelbreckt scores with a couple of good hammerfists.

Lance wants to improve his position but Engelbreckt is controlling well.
Engelbreckt thows a huge punch but Lance dodges it nicely.

Engelbreckt bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Lance's guard.

It looked like Lance was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.

Engelbreckt shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Lance as he avoids it easily.
Lance fails to land with a series of punches.
Lance takes a body punch but keeps moving.

Lance gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Lance not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Engelbreckt sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Lance's guard.

Alexander Engelbreckt is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Lance wants to get back to his feet.
Lance is trying to maintain the position but Engelbreckt is very close to passing his half guard.
Engelbreckt working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
This has been an exciting period of action!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Lance wants to control but Engelbreckt is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Engelbreckt is working for a kimura but Lance is defending it quite comfortably.
Leon Lance has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
