Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Anselmo Harris (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Liquer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Anselmo Harris! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, John Liquer! The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Bruno Lombardi and Jonathan Paton.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Harris takes a jab right on the kisser.
Liquer digs a good body shot into Harris's ribs. We've been hearing reports that Harris has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight. Liquer swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Harris tries for a takedown but Liquer circles away easily letting Liquer counter with a right hand. Harris slips under a jab from Liquer. Harris throws a right hand that Liquer ducks under and follows up with a left that Liquer also avoids with ease. Harris doesn't succeed with the takedown and Liquer counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Harris thinking. Liquer misses with a few strikes there.

Liquer misses with a straight left. Liquer throws a shot from downtown. Harris moves away and avoids it. A lazy left from Liquer finds it's target. Harris fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Liquer, pushing him back against the cage. Liquer is trying to break free. Harris can't find room to land a body shot as Liquer controls the action.

Harris jumps into guard, dragging Liquer to the mat.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Harris looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Liquer prevents Harris from getting back to his feet. Liquer has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Harris is proving hard to escape from. Harris escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Liquer gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Harris working a defensive guard here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Liquer wants to stand but Harris has a closed guard, so he can't escape. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Harris manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Liquer manages to get himself to full guard.
Harris trying to control but Liquer is working from the bottom. Liquer really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Harris. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Harris gets to his feet - Liquer follows without any prompting. Harris doesn't manage to clinch there - Liquer circles away.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Harris has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Harris there as he acknowledges the shot. Liquer throws a nice looking combination but Harris bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Harris closes this distance looking for a takedown but Liquer circles away. Harris takes one on the chin but keeps coming.

Harris is looking to counter with a shot to the body. Harris uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Liquer.

Liquer wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Liquer working hard to break the clinch. Nice body punch from Harris - that landed with a thud.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Liquer is trying to force a seperation but Harris has the dominant position. Liquer wants to break free but Harris has control.

Liquer tries to keep at a distance but Harris has taken the fight into the clinch. Harris prevents Liquer from breaking the clinch. Liquer manages to break the clinch.
Harris changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Liquer tries to avoid it but Harris manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Liquer to the ground. Liquer escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Liquer cracks Harris with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd. Some wild striking there from Liquer.
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky. Liquer lands a right hook to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Harris misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Harris tries to clinch but Liquer moves away and Liquer counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. Harris moves into the clinch.

Harris ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Harris no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. Harris trying to keep a closed guard but Liquer is proving a slippery customer.
Liquer must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Harris wants to sweep here but Liquer controlling him for the moment. Harris is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Liquer is looking to escape. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Harris wants to control but Liquer is keeping him busy. Liquer has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Harris seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Harris is trying to control the action in half guard but Liquer is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Liquer wants to get back to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Harris stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Liquer to get to his feet. Liquer rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Harris moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Liquer circles away from the clinch attempt and Liquer counters with a one-two to the body. Harris blocks a jab. Liquer has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off. Harris wants to clinch up but Liquer keeps it at a distance. Liquer throws a counter combo. Harris jabs at Liquer's body. Harris closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Liquer quickly recovers to half guard. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Liquer can do anything to dispel that myth. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Liquer pushes Harris off looking to stand but Harris dives back in and keeps control.
Liquer is refusing to be controlled, as Harris sits in half guard. Harris is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Liquer is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Harris wants to pass to mount but Liquer is defending the position. Liquer wants to get back to his feet. Harris trying to control the action but Liquer is working from the bottom. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Harris sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Liquer defending well though. Harris perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Harris lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.

Liquer leaves Harris with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. John Liquer seems to be getting the better of the standup. Harris drives through and clinches with Liquer against the cage.
