The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rodriguez moves into range and clinches up with Bugle. Bugle tries a knee to the head but he's missed.

Rodriguez has the Thai clinch. He lands a big knee to the head and Bugle goes down! Rodriguez dives on top of him - Bugle manages to get guard.

It looks like Readen Bugle has been cut. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Rodriguez pushing down on Bugle's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Bugle is still in real trouble! Can Rodriguez finish him? The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Rodriguez has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Rodriguez controlling his opponent. Rodriguez seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Bugle for as long as he can get away with. Bugle seems to have recovered his senses. Rodriguez's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Rodriguez unloads a knee to the mid-section. Bugle lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh. Rodriguez goes for a takedown in the clinch but Bugle prevents it.
Rodriguez is trying to trip Bugle. He has hold of a leg but Bugle is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Rodriguez persists though and gets the takedown into guard. Bugle looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Bugle looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Bugle tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Rodriguez wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Bugle looking for a sweep but Rodriguez has passed into full mount! Oh no! Rodriguez takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Bugle tries to reverse the position but Rodriguez maintains control. Rodriguez controlling from the full mount. Bugle is trying to escape the mount.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rodriguez looking to control and managing it successfully. Rodriguez has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
