Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Lucien Larson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Extraordinary Hobo! The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Larson fails with a takedown attempt. Hobo throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Larson tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Hobo is in Larson's guard. Larson could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Larson pulls Hobo in to control the position. Larson keeping full guard, as Hobo tries to pass. Larson controlling Hobo's posture. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Larson wants to stand and escape but Hobo is having none of it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Larson trying to keep a closed guard but Hobo is proving a slippery customer.
Larson keeping moving, preventing Hobo from controlling successfully. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Larson is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Larson shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Hobo as he jumps to the side. Hobo looks like he wants to counter punch here. Larson is trying hard to land a takedown here. Hobo sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Hobo is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lucien Larson. That's going to take a lot out of him. Larson gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Hobo wants to control from the top but Larson keeps moving.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Larson is trying to control the position but Hobo postures up. Larson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Larson wants to stand up but Hobo is controlling him. Larson throwing strikes off his back to little effect.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Larson fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Extraordinary Hobo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hobo stuffs the takedown. Hobo scores with a takedown into Larson's guard. Hobo is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Hobo trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Hobo postures up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Hobo drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Larson manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Hobo has Larson in his guard. Hobo is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Larson is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Larson has gone for a leg lock! Hobo slips out almost immediately though and dives into Larson's guard. Hobo passes into half guard under a barage of strikes. Hobo wants to stand up but Larson is controlling the position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Hobo missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Larson is looking to control Hobo's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Larson avoid being mounted? And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Extraordinary Hobo dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Hobo manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Larson on his heels. He'll look to pass Larson's guard now, I'm sure. Larson is pulling down on Hobo's head to control his posture. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Hobo wants to control from the top but Larson keeps moving. Hobo is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Larson is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Larson has escaped and now he's on top! Hobo utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Hobo. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Larson working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Larson stands up over Hobo, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Hobo working a defensive guard but Larson manages to pass into side control anyway.
Hobo tries to escape but Larson is in control. Larson creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots. Extraordinary Hobo has got the better of the ground game so far. Hobo tries to improve position but can't. Larson is chipping away with strikes.
Hobo is trying to control Larson's posture but Larson avoids it. Larson landing a few strikes. Hobo is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Larson off and has taken his back! Larson trying to control the hands but Hobo breaks the grip.
That's two minutes gone in the round. I would not like to be Larson right now.
Larson just trying to survive but Hobo is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish. Larson breaks Hobo's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Larson might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. This has been an exciting period of action! Larson is looking to stand up but Hobo won't let him. Hobo throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
Larson trying to stand up but can't free himself from Hobo's guard. Hobo has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Hobo working a defensive guard but Larson passes into half guard.
Larson is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Hobo has managed to free his arm - good work. Larson is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Hobo defends it well.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hobo trying to control but Larson postures up.
Larson thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Hobo's head. Larson tries to stand and escape but Hobo is controlling the position. Hobo is trying to stand up here but Larson is controlling him well. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Larson wants to work for an arm triangle but Hobo is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Larson is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Hobo scores with a nice head shot. Hobo looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Hobo trying to stand up but can't free himself from Larson's guard. Larson is trying to control the position from the bottom.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Hobo is looking to advance position but Larson has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Lucien Larson dominated that second round. That's time! Larson's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!
Larson throws a hook to the side of Hobo's head but Hobo sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Hobo gets a double leg takedown into Larson's guard. Larson throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land. Larson is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Hobo presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat. Larson letting Hobo take a breather here. Hobo pulls guard successfully.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Larson working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Hobo's head. Hobo is trying to keep Larson in close.
That's one minute gone in the round. Larson is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Hobo is looking to stand up but Larson isn't so interested in that idea. Larson works over Hobo with some ground and pound from guard. Larson drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Larson jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Larson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hobo swivels though and keeps the full guard. Larson drops back looking for a leg! Hobo is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Hobo manages to kick Larson off! Larson jumps back into Hobo's guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Hobo not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Hobo gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Larson to score an easy takedown into full guard. Hobo pulls Larson in close to his closed guard and prevents Larson from doing any damage or advancing position. Hobo is trying to keep Larson in close.

Larson drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Hobo manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Larson has Hobo in his guard. Larson wants to get back to his feet but Hobo is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Larson is adopting a defensive guard. Hobo slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Larson struggling a bit here. Hobo trying to control the position but Larson is working away. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Larson is looking for a sweep. Hobo is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Larson is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Lucien Larson. I think Larson has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
