PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Alexander Petzel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Max Cane (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cane has chosen Clutch - Electric Worry as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Alexander Petzel!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Max Cane!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cane shoots in for a takedown but Petzel shows good takedown defense.
Petzel keeps the fight on the outside.
The fight stays on the outside here - Cane looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Cane fails with an attempt to clinch.

Petzel shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Cane is trying to escape back to his feet but Petzel uses the scramble to pass into side control.
Petzel trying to control the position but Cane is working away.

Petzel stands up and beckons Cane to his feet.
Petzel throws a one two combo.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Cane tries to close the distance and clinch but Petzel swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Cane wants to clinch.
Cane lands with a nice body kick.
Cane fails with an attempt to clinch.
Cane tries for a takedown but Petzel circles away easily
and Petzel counters with a nice body shot.
Cane clinches but Petzel breaks the clinch
and Petzel counters with a lovely straight right hand!

and Petzel counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Petzel.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Cane is working an open guard so Petzel takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Petzel gets the takedown into side control.
Cane gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
Cane can't escape the position.

Petzel get's back to his feet.
Petzel is breathing heavily.
Cane closes the distance but Petzel moves to the side
and Petzel counters with a nice body shot.
Petzel throws a body punch but Cane moves out of range.

Petzel forces Cane back against the cage and clinches.
Cane wants to break free but Petzel has control.
Cane wants a takedown but no success here.
Alexander Petzel has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Max Cane.
Cane is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Petzel blocking some punches.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Petzel blocks a couple of punches on the inside.

Petzel breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Petzel looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Cane!

Petzel is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Cane is surviving well by controlling Petzel's body position as best he can.
Cane is bucking up trying to escape but Petzel cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Cane is trying to get back to his feet but can't.
Petzel wants to control the pace but Cane is squirming around nicely.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Cane is trying desperately to improve position.

Petzel working for a guillotine from mount but Cane is in no mood to give up.
Poor strikes thrown by Petzel there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Petzel is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!

Petzel shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Petzel was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Alexander Petzel dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Cane darts in trying to clinch

and Petzel holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
A body shot lands from Cane.
Petzel wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Cane has him pressed against the cage.
Petzel is stalling here.
Cane wants a takedown but no success here.
Cane tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Cane is working for takedown but Petzel is calmly controlling the position for now.

Cane breaks from the clinch.
Max Cane seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cane clinches but Petzel breaks the clinch

and Petzel counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Petzel is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Cane is working an open guard so Petzel takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Cane tries for a takedown but Petzel circles away easily
and Petzel counters with a nice leg kick.
Alexander Petzel has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Max Cane.
Cane darts in trying to clinch

and Petzel counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Petzel escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Cane tries to clinch
and Cane takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Cane closes the distance looking to clinch
and Petzel counters with a straight punch to the midsection.

Petzel gets a takedown into half guard.
Cane is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Petzel scores with a couple of nice shots.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Petzel is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Petzel stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Cane misses with a takedown

and Petzel counters with a shoot takedown. Cane fights it but they end up in guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Petzel wants to control from the top but Cane keeps moving.
Cane really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Petzel. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Cane can't keep his opponent in guard - Petzel advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Cane is kicking away at Petzel from the bottom - trying to push off and stand up. Petzel grabs hold of a leg and drops back for a hell hook! The two fighters roll across the mat, with Cane trying to push Petzel off... Cane taps! He's tapped! This one is all over! A throwback to the old Pancrase there with an infrequently seen submission hold! Nice work.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:28 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Heel Hook). Alexander Petzel!
