Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Randal Keith Orton! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Arjun Batar! The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Anni Minnemäki and Ben Zyskovitsi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Batar goes for a double leg but Orton avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Orton continues to drive forward. Orton went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected. Orton scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
It looks like Arjun Batar has been cut. Batar looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple. Orton misses with a wild combination.
Batar ducks right into an uppercut from Orton. No joy there for Orton, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
And Batar tries to counter it with a takedown but Orton pushes his down on his head and steps out. A punch combination from Orton misses. Batar shoots in and drives through. Orton sprawls well. Batar tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Orton swivels and escapes. Randal Keith Orton has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Arjun Batar. Orton moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body. This has been an exciting period of action! Orton goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. Batar shoots in for a takedown but Orton shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Batar looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple. Orton slaps away a takedown attempt from Batar, before circling back to the center of the mat.
That's one minute gone in the round. Batar gets a takedown into half guard. Batar wants to lay and pray for a moment but Orton keeps working. Batar is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Batar seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Orton is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Arjun Batar! A relieved looking Arjun Batar thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
