Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 4 - 1, fighting out of London, Joan Wells! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Jack Pop! The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Phil Schofield and James Atkins.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pop feints and as Wells raises his hands in defense, Pop changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Wells has a closed guard, preventing Pop from standing up. Wells might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Pop seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Pop keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Wells's head. Pop tries to free his leg and advance position but Wells is retaining full guard. Pop working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Wells's head. Pop looking to pass the guard. Pop is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Wells looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Pop puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard. Pop tries to stand but can't do so whilst Wells controls his leg. Pop looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wells is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment. Pop performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Pop seems to be working for a kimura but Wells defends the submission attempt. Wells is looking for a sweep. Pop is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. It looks like Pop is going to stand back up.
Wells tries to roll over but Pop keeps him under control. Wells is trying to control but can't.
Pop slows the pace down in half guard.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Wells shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Pop manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Pop is trying to control the position but Wells postures up. Wells wanted to stand there but Pop had control of the position. Wells preventing the sweep. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Pop looking to control.
Pop wants to sweep here but Wells controlling him for the moment. Pop controlling Wells's posture. Wells working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Pop is trying to control the position but Wells postures up.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Pop looking to score a takedown here. Wells is defending well but Pop drives through and ends up in Wells's guard. Pop would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Pop working his ground and pound in the gym. So far it seems to be working well. Pop is in close to Wells's body, working some short punches and elbows. Pop looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Wells keeping full guard, as Pop tries to pass. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Wells punching from the bottom. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jack Pop dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Wells takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt. Wells shoots in for a takedown but Pop shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Pop closes the distance and clinches. Wells tries to pull guard but Pop won't allow it.
Pop manages to break the clinch.
Pop drives through with a takedown into guard. Wells looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Pop's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Pop advances to half guard. Wells wants to get back to full guard. Pop controlling the action here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wells missing with punches from the bottom.
Pop is figuring out what he wants to do next. Wells is trying to stand back up but Pop is controlling him

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. A head kick by Pop misses and Wells counters with a series of strikes. Pop will be more careful next time no doubt. A bone on bone clash there as Wells blocks the leg kick.
Pop keeps the fight on the outside. Pop throws a low kick, looking for Wells's leg but Wells calmly moves out of range. Wells throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Pop counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Wells strikes from the bottom but Pop uses the opportunity to move to side control.
Pop cracks Wells with a big right hand but Wells just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

Wells is not in a great position here, taking some shots. Pop looks up at the clock and then as Wells takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Pop smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Wells is rocked! Jack Pop has got the better of the ground game so far.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Pop gets to mount! Wells was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Pop lands a big elbow. Oh Wells is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Wells takes a big shot to the dome and his eyes have rolled back in his head! Pop's killer instinct has kicked in as he finishes the fight with more strikes. Impressive finish.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:34 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jack Pop!
