Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 4 - 1, fighting out of New York, Leigh Ellison! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jon Jones! The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, John Kavanagh and Anthony Taglia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jones closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Jones is keen to just control but Ellison is a slippery customer. Ellison really is a fat lump. Ellison tries to roll over but Jones keeps him under control. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Ellison tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. A nice leg kick lands there from Ellison. Jones throws a head kick but Ellison moves out of range.
Jones pushes Ellison up against the cage in a clinch. Jones successfully pulls guard.
Ellison scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Jones manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Ellison manages to get himself to full guard.
Jones would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Ellison is striking from the bottom but Jones uses the opportunity to pass into half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ellison is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Jones is looking for a kimura here.
Jones is keen to just control but Ellison is a slippery customer.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jones misses with a head shot. Ellison uses the momentum to regain guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Ellison keeping full guard, as Jones tries to pass. Ellison is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Jones rolls with it to try and escape but Ellison cranks on the arm and Jones is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
