Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Sammie Day (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Courney Hunt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Sammie Day!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Courney Hunt!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Richard Clark and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hunt instigates a clinch.

Hunt escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Hunt changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Day tries to avoid it but Hunt manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Day to the ground. Day escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Day tries for a takedown but Hunt circles away easily

and Hunt counters by clinching up.
Hunt goes for a takedown in the clinch but Day prevents it.

Hunt pulls Day into guard.
Day really is a fat lump.
Day in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Hunt really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Day. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Hunt is striking from the bottom but Day uses the opportunity to pass into half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hunt trying to control but Day postures up.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Hunt can do anything to dispel that myth.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hunt is desperately trying to improve his position but Day has a good base and remains in mount.
Hunt is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Day has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Day avoids the attempt from Hunt to control.

Hunt sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Hunt has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Day is working away from the top position though.
Day thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Nice sprawl there from Day as Hunt shoots in.
Sammie Day has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Courney Hunt.
Hunt throws a leg kick but Day sees it coming and checks it nicely.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Hunt tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Day defends well and Hunt ends up having to push Day into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Hunt misses with a takedown attempt - Day sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Courney Hunt seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Hunt jumps guard and drags Day to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Day content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Day is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Hunt can do to turn this around?

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Day keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Sammie Day has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Courney Hunt.
Day uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Hunt.
Day throws a big counter combination but Hunt scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Sammie Day is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Hunt rushes Day and presses him up against the cage.

Hunt ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Hunt no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Hunt wants to hit a switch here but Day passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Hunt there!

Hunt keeps trying to improve his position.
Hunt tries to lock up and control but Day gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Day landing strikes, looking to finish!
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Day lands a nice shot to the head.
Hunt is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sammie Day dominated that second round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Day will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Nice takedown defense from Day. No joy for Hunt on that attempt.
As Hunt tries to get set, Day tries to push him back and clinch up but Hunt manages to avoid the attempt.

Hunt has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Day is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Hunt's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Hunt wants to take a breather but Day is having none of it.

Hunt is looking to stand back up but Day counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Hunt.
It looks like Day is going to stand back up.

Hunt looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Hunt is looking to get back to is feet but Day passes into side control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Day working away.
Day lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Hunt tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.
Hunt is wriggling around trying to escape.
Day landing strikes from the mount and Hunt is in trouble!
Hunt tries to buck Day off but he can't manage it.

Hunt really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Hunt is in a horrible position here. Day smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Day avoids the attempt from Hunt to control.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Sammie Day.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Day, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
