Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jay Cutler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johnny Charco (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Johnny Charco has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jay Cutler!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Johnny Charco!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Frank Antenori and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cutler takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.

Cutler drives through and clinches with Charco against the cage.
We've been hearing reports that Cutler has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
A bit of stalling here from Cutler.
Cutler lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Cutler misses with the head strike.
Charco can't break the clinch.
Charco is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
Charco wants a takedown.
Charco is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Cutler to keep the fight standing.
Charco goes for a takedown attempt but Cutler pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Jay Cutler has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Johnny Charco.
Charco throws a leg kick but Cutler sees it coming and moves out of range.
Jay Cutler seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cutler walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Charco has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Cutler is landing a low percentage of strikes.

Charco shoots in for a takedown but Cutler shows good takedown defense.
Jab, jab by Charco - just one landing.
Cutler tries to close the distance and clinch but Charco swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Charco gets tackled into the cage by Cutler. Cutler maintains the clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Charco tries to pull guard but Cutler forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Charco tries for a takedown but Cutler manages to get underhooks.
Cutler lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Charco backwards.
Charco can't get the takedown.
Charco takes an elbow to the temple.
A short right from Cutler.
Cutler lands an elbow inside that Charco shrugs off.
A short left from Cutler.
Charco has Cutler pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Cutler manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Cutler lands a shoulder strike.
Charco wants to break free but Cutler has control.
Cutler lands a damaging elbow.
Charco wants to break free but Cutler has control.
Cutler lands with a light punch inside.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A frustrated look appears on Charco's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Cutler lands with a short shot to the head.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Charco tries to pull guard but Cutler forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Charco just misses with a elbow thrown towards Cutler's brow.
Cutler lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Charco backwards.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Cutler takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Charco pulls guard successfully.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Charco looking to control.

Charco has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Cutler can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Charco controls Cutler momentarily but Cutler frees himself.
Cutler trying to control but Charco is working from the bottom.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Cutler has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Charco to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Cutler is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Charco pulls down on the head and he's put Cutler to sleep! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:27 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Johnny Charco!
Our winner, Johnny Charco, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
