PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Enrique Molito (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Julian Reis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 24 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Enrique Molito!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 14 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, Julian Reis!
The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Jeff Smith and Roger Salmon.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Reis fails in his attempt to clinch.
Reis shoots in looking for a takedown but Molito manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Reis's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Some wild striking there from Reis.
Reis fails with a takedown attempt.
Reis shoots in but Molito avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Molito swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.
Enrique Molito has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Julian Reis.
Reis doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Molito counters with a lovely straight right hand!
We've been informed that Reis has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Reis throws a nice looking combination but Molito bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Molito is looking to counter punch.
Reis looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Molito seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
Reis shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Molito counters with a right hand to the body.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Nice sprawl there from Molito as Reis shoots in.

Reis gets the takedown into side control.
Molito is pushing Reis's head away, looking to escape. Reis manages to hold on to the position though.

Reis wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Molito, who protects the arm well.
Reis lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Molito down.
Molito is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Reis working the strikes but Molito uses the opportunity to regain half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Molito is trying to stand back up but Reis is controlling him
Reis sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Molito defending well though.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Reis is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Molito is just riding it out for now. Reis eventually gives up the hold.
Reis seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Molito does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Reis might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Molito haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Reis thows a huge punch but Molito dodges it nicely.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Reis is pressing down on Molito's thigh, looking to free his foot. Molito is holding on for now.
Reis is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Reis thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.

Reis jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Molito manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Reis is chipping away with strikes.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Reis postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

Reis working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Reis fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Reis wants to control but Molito is keeping him busy.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Reis is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Molito is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Julian Reis dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Molito circles away from the clinch attempt
and Molito counters with a straight right hand.


It looks like Julian Reis has been cut.
Reis shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Molito sprawls well. Molito wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Reis gets slowly back to his feet.
As Reis looks to move away, Molito throws a big counter combo bu Reis just gets out of the way.
Molito misses with a series of wild punches.

Reis closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Molito did well to prevent Reis getting side control.
Molito looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.

Reis has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Molito defend it? Reis steps over the head and cranks it - Molito is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Reis!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:06 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Julian Reis!
Julian Reis very nearly forgot to thank Kore Fight Nutrition [TG] amongst all the excitement of his win but just as the interview came to a close, he screamed their name. Hopefully he'll get a few nice freebies in the mail as a thank you.
Enrique Molito spoke after the fight, saying 'he was the better fighter tonight i rest up and get back in the gym i will be back great fight man.'.
