Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Alf Stewart (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank Ayew (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Alf Stewart! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Frank Ayew! The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Bruno Hogan and Ben Watson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Stewart scores with a jab. Ayew acknowledges it with a nod of the head. Stewart has a takedown stuffed. Ayew is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch. Stewart throws an ugly left hook that misses
so Ayew counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Ayew tries to free his leg and advance position but Stewart is retaining full guard. Ayew is pushing down on Stewart's leg trying to pass to half guard. Stewart is fighting to maintain full guard but Ayew has managed to sneak the leg through. Stewart tries to kick Ayew off in order to stand up. Ayew Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control. Ayew working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter. Stewart wants to get back to his feet but Ayew drags him back down. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Stewart explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there! Ayew uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Stewart. Ayew wants to counter with a clinch but Stewart pushes him away. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Ayew stuffs the takedown attempt from Stewart. Stewart gets slowly back to his feet. Ayew clinches.
That's one minute gone in the round. Stewart is trying to push Ayew away but Ayew has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere. Stewart has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. Ayew goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Ayew is defending well against a takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Alf Stewart. That's going to take a lot out of him. Ayew tries for a takedown but Stewart manages to get underhooks.
Stewart really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Ayew jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Stewart walks away with a smile on his face. Ayew gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Stewart keeps the fight on the outside. Ayew has a takedown stuffed. Ayew fails with a takedown attempt. Stewart clinches.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Stewart tries to circle away but Ayew has him pinned against the cage. Ayew breaks the clinch.
Stewart changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Ayew fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Stewart has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. Ayew drives through and clinches with Stewart against the cage.
Stewart tries for a takedown but Ayew manages to get underhooks.
Stewart has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. Stewart is looking to break free of the clinch but Ayew has double underhooks. Stewart tries to circle away but Ayew has him pinned against the cage. Stewart can't break the clinch.
Ayew jumps guard but Stewart stands there with Ayew around his waist. Ayew gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Stewart working hard to break the clinch. Ayew drops down looking for an ankle pick but Stewart pulls his leg out and moves away.
Ayew with a poor takedown and Stewart counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ayew ducks right into an uppercut from Stewart. Ayew needs to keep his hands up - Stewart had a free shot at his head there.
Ayew is rocked! Stewart lands hard precision jab right on the jaw that stiffens Ayew up and sends him tumbling to the mat! The ref grabs Stewart from behind before he can pounce. Some folks in the crowd didn't like that stoppage, but I saw Ayew's eyes roll way back in his head, he was done.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:15 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Alf Stewart!
