Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Winston Sanford! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Edward Kelly! The judges for this bout are Ron Honeybunn, Bruno Hogan and Ben Watson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sanford looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it. Sanford lands with a kick to the temple. Kelly shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?" Edward Kelly seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Kelly takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Kelly shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Sanford napping and manages to drive through into side control! Sanford struggling a bit here. Kelly tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Kelly thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Kelly cracks Sanford with an elbow. That is naaassty.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sanford can't do much from the bottom here. Kelly scores with punches from side control. Kelly looks up at the clock and then as Sanford takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Kelly smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Kelly is working Sanford over with some ground and pound from side control. Kelly blocks the strikes from Sanford.
Kelly wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Sanford, who protects the arm well. Kelly cracks Sanford with a big elbow. Sanford is trying to get back to his feet. Kelly has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Kelly lands a few punches from side control. Kelly tries to advance to mount but can't. Kelly working the ground and pound.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kelly controls the position from side control. Sanford can't do much from the bottom here. Kelly trying to control the action but Sanford is working from the bottom. Kelly in side control lands a decent elbow. Kelly lands some shots froms side control. Kelly lands a strong strike to the head of Sanford. That's dazed him! Kelly looking to finish here. Sanford is waving his arms around trying to block but he's hurt badly - Kelly lands more strikes and the referee steps in to end the fight!
