Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tanner Rojas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Carl Chapman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Carl Chapman has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Tanner Rojas's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Tanner Rojas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Carl Chapman!
The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Shirou Masuda and Shigeki Sano.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chapman pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Chapman gets the takedown into side control.

Chapman tries for a kimura but Rojas is defending well.
Chapman working the ground and pound but Rojas is defending the strikes.

Chapman swings around for an armbar but Rojas sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Chapman's guard.

Chapman is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Chapman has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Rojas can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Chapman throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Rojas escapes and throws Chapman's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Chapman is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Rojas is one step ahead and moves to full mount!

Rojas throws a big counter combination but Chapman scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.

Chapman bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Rojas is trying to buck Chapman off.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rojas trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
Rojas tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.

Chapman is standing up, even though he is in mount.
Rojas throws a predictable looking body shot
and Chapman counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
The fight stays on the outside here - Chapman looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Chapman feints and as Rojas raises his hands in defense, Chapman changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Chapman throws a big right hand that misses.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Rojas holds on and takes a little breather.
Rojas keeping moving, preventing Chapman from controlling successfully.

Chapman advances position into side control!
Rojas is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Chapman is controlling him well.
You can see the frustration on Rojas's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Rojas tries to buck Chapman off but Chapman is having none of it.

Rojas tightens his grip and picks Chapman up, before dumping him to the ground. Chapman manages to land in guard.
Chapman wants to stand and escape but Rojas is having none of it.
Rojas has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Chapman is proving hard to escape from.

Carl Chapman has got the better of the ground game so far.

Chapman has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Rojas off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Chapman throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Rojas throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Chapman looking to score a takedown here. Rojas is defending well but Chapman drives through and ends up in Rojas's guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Rojas is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Rojas is working an open guard so Chapman takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Chapman uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Rojas.
Rojas has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ.

Well Chapman has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
