Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Demarcus Stephens (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ben Gann (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Demarcus Stephens!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ben Gann!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Russell Pearce and Jorge Garcia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gann throws a leg kick but Stephens checks it.
Gann is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Stephens is looking to counter punch.
Stephens fails with a takedown attempt.
Gann tries to counter with a clinch but Stephens shakes him off and moves away.
Gann throws a head kick that misses.
Stephens appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.
Stephens takes a head kick and keeps coming.

Gann tries to clinch but Stephens moves out of range.

and Stephens counters with a takedown into side control.
Gann tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Stephens grinds an elbow into Gann's temple.
Gann is trying to escape the position but Stephens is controlling the position.

Stephens looks up at the clock and then as Gann takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Stephens smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
A control attempt from Gann but he's now mounted!
Stephens lands with some strikes.
BOOM! Stephens connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Stephens cracks Gann with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Gann tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Gann tries to lock up and control but Stephens gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Stephens lands a big shot there that rocks Gann but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Gann is in all sorts of trouble here.
Stephens lands a couple of good shots and Gann has given up his back, trying to escape the position!
Gann is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Stephens.
Stephens lands a punch that was close to the back of the head but the ref thinks it's OK.
Oooh a big shot gets through from Stephens. Many more shots like that and the referee will have to think about stepping in!
Stephens scores with some strikes to the side of the head there. Good, points scoring shots.

Stephens is persistently looking for the submission but Gann is defending it well.

Stephens is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

Stephens is landing with strikes. Gann can't take much more of this.
Stephens doesn't have the hooks in and Gann manages to turn into his guard.
Gann looking to sit in guard and control but Stephens gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Stephens stands up from Gann's guard - Stephens perhaps looking for a knockout.

Stephens darts in and clinches Gann up against the cage.

Stephens drags the fight down to the ground.
Stephens lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Stephens chips away with some ground and pound.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!



Gann moves into the clinch successfully.
Gann wants to stall.

Gann pulls guard successfully.

Stephens connects with a couple of short punches.
Stephens is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Gann can do to turn this around?
Stephens working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Gann's head.
Stephens wanted to stand there but Gann had control of the position.
Stephens cracks Gann with a solid left hand.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Stephens throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Gann works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Gann has his foot on Stephens's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Stephens works his way back into a safe position though.

Stephens gets to his feet. Gann looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Gann is trying to trip Stephens. He has hold of a leg but Stephens is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Gann persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Stephens is looking to stand up but Gann isn't so interested in that idea.

Stephens winds up and cracks Gann with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Stephens takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Stephens lands a nice short elbow.

Stephens is looking for a kimura but Gann is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Stephens to get the leverage.

Stephens tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Gann manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Gann is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.

Gann moves in looking to clinch but Stephens pushes him off.
Stephens seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
Gann tries to clinch up but Stephens circles away and keeps his distance.

Gann throws a left and a right that both miss

and Stephens counters with a single leg into guard. Gann didn't expect that.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Stephens has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Gann tightens his grip and picks Stephens up, before dumping him to the ground. Stephens manages to land in guard.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Gann tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Stephens paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
The fight stays on the outside here - Gann looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Ben Gann has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Demarcus Stephens is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Stephens, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
