The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Cecil Peabody and Gwen Towbar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Zumo connects with a single shot there.
Calvacante doesn't manage to clinch there - Zumo circles away.
Zumo fails to land the takedown.

Calvacante is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Zumo has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Zumo!

Zumo is working Calvacante over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Calvacante wants to stand and escape but Zumo is having none of it.
Calvacante uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Zumo goes for a double leg but Calvacante avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Calvacante continues to drive forward.

Calvacante tries to close the distance and clinch up but Zumo swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Zumo drops down looking for a counter takedown but Calvacante sprawls and moves away.
Zumo misses with a takedown attempt - Calvacante sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jeff Zumo. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Zumo shoots in looking for a takedown. Calvacante tries to sprawl out of it but Zumo keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Calvacante manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

and Calvacante counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Zumo shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Calvacante napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Calvacante is pushing Zumo's head away, looking to escape. Zumo manages to hold on to the position though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Calvacante tries to escape but Zumo is in control.
