PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Krzys Soszynski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Solomon Carver (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Carver is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Jay Z - Run this Town (Broken Halo Remix). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Krzys Soszynski!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Solomon Carver!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Gwen Towbar and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Soszynski tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Carver swivels and escapes.
Carver throws a nice outside leg kick.
Carver will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Jab, jab by Carver - just one landing.
Carver misses with a low kick as Soszynski jumps back.
Carver swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Carver throws a low kick, looking for Soszynski's leg but Soszynski calmly moves out of range.
Soszynski shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Carver as he avoids it easily.
Soszynski closes this distance looking for a takedown but Carver circles away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Krzys Soszynski. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Soszynski is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Soszynski fails with an attempt to clinch.
Soszynski shoots in looking for a takedown. Carver tries to sprawl out of it but Soszynski keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Carver manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Carver looks to score with a jab to the body but Soszynski is just out of range.
Carver stuffs the takedown attempt from Soszynski. Soszynski gets slowly back to his feet.
Horrible takedown by Soszynski or perhaps it was just good defense by Carver which made him look bad.
Soszynski tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Carver misses the jab.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Soszynski fails with the takedown.
Carver misses with a low kick.
A clash of legs there as Soszynski blocks the low kick.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Good shot there by Soszynski.
Carver lunges at Soszynski with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Soszynski's hand.
Carver throws a front kick aimed at Soszynski's knee but Soszynski avoids it well.
Soszynski takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Soszynski takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Soszynski is breathing heavily.
Carver cracks the inside of Soszynski's front leg.

Carver throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Soszynski stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Carver throws a big overhand right that connects, sending Soszynski tumbling to the canvas!


Soszynski is rocked!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Carver passes into half guard.
Oh Soszynski is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Carver tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Soszynski.
Soszynski seems to have got his legs back now.
Carver is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
It looks like Carver is going to stand back up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Soszynski is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Carver's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Carver's back!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Soszynski controlling well, preventing Carver from escaping the position.

Soszynski patiently working for the choke. Which fighter will keep their nerve here?
You can see the frustration on Carver's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Carver avoids the strikes from Soszynski.
Carver manages to reverse the position and now he's in Soszynski's guard. Nice work there by Carver.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Soszynski is on top in guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Soszynski lands a couple of elbows.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Solomon Carver dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!


Soszynski tries for a takedown but Carver sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Carver connects with a single shot there.
Carver cracks Soszynski with an uppercut from hell and Soszynski crumples to the canvas, he's out! Oh no, he's recovered and he's grabbed one of Carver's legs and pulled him into guard. The ref thought about stopping it there but he's let it go - good reffing!

Soszynski has a closed guard, preventing Carver from standing up.
Carver is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Soszynski is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Soszynski working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Carver has passed into half guard!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Soszynski slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Soszynski flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

Soszynski has his foot on Carver's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Carver works his way back into a safe position though.

Soszynski is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Carver controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Soszynski looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Carver must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Soszynski lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Carver!

Soszynski moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Carver has worked his arm free - good work by Carver!
Carver manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Soszynski wants to lay and pray for a moment but Carver keeps working.
Carver tries to roll over but Soszynski keeps him under control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Solomon Carver showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Soszynski closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Carver swings and misses with a hook to the body.
No luck for Soszynski with that takedown attempt.
Carver scores with a sloppy right hand. Soszynski should have avoided that one.

Krzys Soszynski is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Carver keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Soszynski shoots in for a double leg but Carver sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Carver is looking to slow Soszynski down with leg kicks.
Carver cracks Soszynski with an open hand slap.
Carver lands with a right and another and another! Soszynski is in big trouble! Carver lands again and this time it's lights out for Soszynski! A quality knockout there for Carver.
