Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ramin Laulu! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Musial Stanson! The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Shigeki Fujiwara and Shirou Masuda.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Stanson fails to land the takedown. Laulu appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body. Laulu misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Stanson.
Stanson shoots in but no luck this time. Stanson staying out of range there. Laulu slaps away a takedown attempt from Stanson, before circling back to the center of the mat. Laulu half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range. Ramin Laulu has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Musial Stanson. Stanson misses with a takedown attempt and Laulu counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Stanson tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Laulu swivels and escapes. Stanson bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Stanson tries to counter with a clinch but Laulu shakes him off and moves away. Stanson dives in and grabs Laulu's left leg, looking for a takedown. Laulu pushes down on Stanson's head and hops out. Stanson shoots in for a double leg but Laulu sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Stanson misses with a takedown attempt and Laulu counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Stanson displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Laulu throws out the jab. A punch lands to the side of Stanson 's head but he takes it in his stride. Laulu misses with a lunging right hand
and Stanson counters with a left and a right that stings Laulu. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Stanson has a takedown stuffed.
That's one minute gone in the round. A jab from Laulu misses. Stanson darts in looking for a takedown but Laulu gets double underhooks and turns Stanson into the cage. Laulu waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Stanson. Laulu connects with a right hand. Stanson shakes it off. Laulu missing with a left hand there. Stanson was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Laulu circles and sees the opportunity to plant his feet and throw a really nice straight left hand that drops Stanson to the canvas! Stanson doesn't know where he is but he's trying to survive - Laulu keeps piling on the pressure and forces the referee to step in! This one is aaaaaall over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:28 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Ramin Laulu! Our winner, Ramin Laulu, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
