Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 9 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Avery McCurnin!
The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Illya Tyunina.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bannon drives through and clinches with McCurnin against the cage.
Bannon stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
McCurnin has Bannon pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Bannon manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
McCurnin swings wildly with an uppercut but Bannon uses good head movement to avoid it.
McCurnin is trying to push Bannon away but Bannon has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
McCurnin tries to circle away but Bannon has him pinned against the cage.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from McCurnin.

Bannon cracks McCurnin with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Bannon has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning McCurnin to stand back up!

Bannon drives through and clinches with McCurnin against the cage.

Bannon manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Bannon seems to have come into the fight with the intention of avoiding any damage in the clinch, rather than actually showing any aggression.
McCurnin seems to have recovered his senses.
Bannon has McCurnin pushed against the cage.
Bannon gets a warning from the ref for wasting time.

McCurnin is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Bannon is defending well for now.

Bannon gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.

Bannon working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of McCurnin's head.
Bannon lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
McCurnin is trying to control the position but Bannon postures up.
McCurnin looking to hit a scissor sweep but Bannon is one step ahead there.

McCurnin keeping moving, preventing Bannon from controlling successfully.
Bannon has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Bannon stands up over McCurnin, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
McCurnin is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Bannon is controlling him.
Bannon works over McCurnin with some ground and pound from guard.

McCurnin is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Bannon is aware though and is defending well.
Bannon chips away with some ground and pound.
Bannon postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Bannon scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Bannon's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


McCurnin fails with a takedown attempt.

Bannon moves into range and clinches up with McCurnin.

Bannon seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.

McCurnin is sitting in close to Bannon's body. Bannon has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! McCurnin is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, McCurnin is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Bannon.
