Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Sammie Day (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steven Gerrard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Sammie Day!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Steven Gerrard!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Steven Brown and Phil Schofield.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gerrard closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Day could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Gerrard pushes Day back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Gerrard is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Day pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Day fails to pull guard.
Day jumps guard but Gerrard stands there with Day around his waist. Day gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Day tries to pull guard but Gerrard won't allow it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sammie Day. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Gerrard managing to block the knees to the body from Day.

Day is defending well against a takedown attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Day tries a body shot but Gerrard blocks it.

Gerrard wants to get up but he can't break Day's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Day throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Day is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Gerrard defends well.
Day bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Gerrard's guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gerrard looking to hit a scissor sweep but Day is one step ahead there.
Day might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Gerrard is still trying to improve position.

Day in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Gerrard is looking to stand up but Day isn't so interested in that idea.
Gerrard pulls Day in close to prevent any damage.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Gerrard has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Day closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Gerrard is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Day looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Gerrard gets full guard.
Day with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Gerrard is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Gerrard prevents Day from improving his position.
Gerrard throwing shots but Day is blocking nicely.
Day wants to get back to his feet.
Gerrard moves into full mount! Day won't be happy about that!

Gerrard stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.
Gerrard throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Gerrard tries to score a power double leg takedown but Day sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Gerrard somewhat.
Gerrard is breathing heavily.
Day dives in for a single leg takedown but Gerrard sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Day will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Gerrard unleashes a big counter combination but Day bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Gerrard shoots in looking for a takedown but Day manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Gerrard's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Day half committed to a counter leg kick.
Day misses with a takedown attempt - Gerrard sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sammie Day. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Day throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Gerrard's waist but Gerrard gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Day off to one side.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Sammie Day will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! And we move into the final round!

Day wants the takedown. Gerrard is fighting it off but Day persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Gerrard's guard against the cage.

Gerrard is trying to keep Day in close.
Day is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Gerrard can do to turn this around?

Gerrard really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Day. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Gerrard is on top in guard.

Gerrard thuds his shin into the meat of Day's side.
Gerrard lands with a thumping leg kick.

Gerrard closes the distance and clinches.
Gerrard is trying to pull guard but Day has him pressed against the cage.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Day has a couple of punches blocked by Gerrard.
Day fails to pull the fight into his guard.
