9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Steve Watson! The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Stewart Dunkirk and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Diaz misses with a series of wild punches.
Watson is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. Diaz feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Watsons jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist! Diaz swings and misses with a shot to the body and Watson counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Watson. Diaz being controlled here, momentarily. Watson slips nicely into half guard. Watson wants to free his trapped foot but Diaz is holding on for dear life with his legs. Watson is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Diaz is just riding it out for now. Watson eventually gives up the hold. Watson is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Diaz wants to get back to his feet. Watson is taking a breather. Diaz says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Diaz is looking for a sweep. Watson is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
