Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Marc Zietsch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Colt McLaren (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 11 - 0, fighting out of New York, Marc Zietsch!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 12 - 1, fighting out of New York, Colt McLaren!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Jack Bonds and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Zietsch feints and then cracks McLaren's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow McLaren down.
McLaren connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Zietsch scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
McLaren throws the kick towards the body but Zietsch avoids it.
Colt McLaren seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
McLaren moves out of range as Zietsch throws a body kick.
An inside leg kick lands from Zietsch.
McLaren takes a jab right on the kisser.

and Zietsch counters with a nice double leg into side control. McLaren won't be happy with that.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

McLaren is trying to improve his position.

McLaren is trying to control Zietsch's posture but Zietsch avoids it.

Zietsch fails to land a wild elbow strike.
McLaren tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Zietsch presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!

McLaren is in all sorts of trouble here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Zietsch lands a couple of good shots and McLaren has given up his back, trying to escape the position!
The referee is taking a good look at McLaren as he is on the wrong end of some big shots from Zietsch!
Even with his hooks in, Zietsch manages to miss with strikes from the back.
I really don't envy McLaren right now.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

McLaren tries to roll over but Zietsch keeps him under control.

McLaren is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Zietsch defends well.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Zietsch throws a big right hand that misses.
Zietsch is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

McLaren escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Zietsch gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Zietsch stands up over McLaren, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

McLaren controls Zietsch momentarily but Zietsch frees himself.
Zietsch wants to control from the top but McLaren keeps moving.
Zietsch postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
McLaren is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Zietsch wants to control but McLaren is keeping busy and won't allow it.
McLaren wants to take a breather but Zietsch is having none of it.

McLaren ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Zietsch moves away.

Zietsch seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.

Zietsch is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that McLaren can do to turn this around?
McLaren uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Zietsch.
Zietsch buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.

Zietsch throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Zietsch is looking to slow McLaren down with leg kicks.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Zietsch on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
McLaren swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Zietsch takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

Zietsch tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but McLaren was well out of range. Poor timing from Zietsch.
McLaren was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind.
A solid leg kick lands there for McLaren.
McLaren moves out of range of the strikes.

Zietsch half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
McLaren scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
McLaren fakes the leg kick and cracks Zietsch in the body.

It looks like Marc Zietsch has been cut.
McLaren is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Zietsch.
McLaren thuds his shin into the meat of Zietsch's side.

McLaren can't do much from the bottom here.

Zietsch has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Zietsch working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
McLaren tries to roll over but Zietsch keeps him under control.
Zietsch uses his free foot to push down on McLaren's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for McLaren.
Zietsch lands a couple of good shots and McLaren has given up his back, trying to escape the position!

Marc Zietsch overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Zietsch cracks McLaren with a big shot to body and one to the head - really punishing McLaren from the back mount here, looking to soften him up.

Zietsch goes for a double leg but McLaren avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as McLaren continues to drive forward.

McLaren fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Zietsch.

Zietsch closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Zietsch slips a nice elbow through McLaren's hands, connecting with McLaren's forehead.
Zietsch thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
McLaren is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Zietsch's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Zietsch's back!

McLaren keeps control of the position as Zietsch tries to break free.
McLaren is striking well from the back but Zietsch escapes and manages to control the positon and works his way to half guard. A much better position - the crisis is over for the time being.

Zietsch is looking to control McLaren's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Zietsch avoid being mounted?

McLaren is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
McLaren connects with a couple of short punches.
Zietsch has momentary wrist control but McLaren slips an elbow through the middle.


Zietsch is rocked!
McLaren passes into half guard.
Oh Zietsch is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

McLaren has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Zietsch defend it? McLaren steps over the head and cranks it - Zietsch is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for McLaren!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:24 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Colt McLaren!
During a confident post fight interview, Colt McLaren thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
