Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Dakota Martin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rufus Soderberg (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Dakota Martin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 22 - 15 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Rufus Soderberg!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Don Winkell and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Soderberg moves out of range of the leg kick from Martin.
Soderberg ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Martin moves away.
Soderberg shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Martin defends it nicely.
Martin has been working on his boxing with his coaches at K.O. Koala's in the buildup to the fight.
Martin uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Soderberg.
Martin connects with an inside leg kick.
Nice shot lands for Martin.
Martin misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Martin cracks Soderberg with a good jab.
Soderberg tries to move into range but Martin moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Martin punishes Soderberg's body with a nice straight punch.
Martin throws a hook but Soderberg blocks it.
Martin slips under a jab from Soderberg.

Martin throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Soderberg counters with a shoot takedown. Martin fights it but they end up in guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Soderberg has gone for a leg lock! Martin slips out almost immediately though and dives into Soderberg's guard.

Martin has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Soderberg had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Martin defends it easily.

Soderberg escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Martin gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Soderberg looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Soderberg wants to sweep here but Martin controlling him for the moment.
Martin is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Martin working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Soderberg's head.
Our spies down at at The Stray Dogs inform us that Soderberg has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Soderberg has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Martin can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Martin connects with a couple of short punches.

Martin stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Soderberg swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Soderberg is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Martin landing with the ground and pound.

Soderberg has his foot on Martin's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Martin works his way back into a safe position though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Soderberg utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dakota Martin dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


No luck with that takedown attempt from Soderberg.
Soderberg ducks under a wild hook from Martin.
Martin ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Soderberg moves away.
Martin finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
And Soderberg tries to counter it with a takedown but Martin pushes his down on his head and steps out.

Soderberg throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Martin was covering up waiting for the punch and Soderberg finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Martin is striking off his back. Soderberg thinks nothing of it though and passes easily into half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Soderberg tries to pass to full mount but Martin defends it.
Soderberg is just content to waste time from the top position. Martin takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Soderberg trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Martin manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!

Martin postures up in Soderberg's guard and throws a big left but Soderberg blocks it.

Soderberg is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Martin defends well.

Martin is sitting in close to Soderberg's body. Soderberg has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Martin is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Martin is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Soderberg.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:46 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Rufus Soderberg!
