PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Michael Dundee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vince Run (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 9 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Michael Dundee!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Vince Run!
The judges for this bout are Dirk Anderson, Daniel Franklin and Santiago Holmes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Run with a poor takedown
and Run takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Dundee fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Run avoids it really well and circles away.
Dundee circles away from the clinch attempt.
Run throws a combination that misses

and Dundee moves into the clinch.
Run tries to circle away but Dundee has him pinned against the cage.
Dundee cracks Run with a nice body shot.
Dundee stalling against the cage.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Dundee working Run over with knees to the body.
Run fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Dundee breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Dundee misses with a head kick.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Dundee shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Run pinned against the cage. Run gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Run takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Run swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
It looked like Dundee wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Dundee really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Nice sprawl there from Run as Dundee shoots in.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Michael Dundee. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Dundee shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Dundee looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Dundee is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Dundee has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Run holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Dundee tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.

Dundee prevents Run from getting the reversal.
Run is bucking up trying to escape but Dundee cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Dundee wants to control the pace but Run is squirming around nicely.
Dundee throws a sloppy strike and Run uses the opportunity to reverse the position! A bit of a scramble here and Run has ended up in Dundee's guard.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Dundee working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Run.
Dundee is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Dundee is looking to stand up but Run isn't so interested in that idea.

Run looking to pass the guard.
Run wants to control from the top but Dundee keeps moving.

Dundee working for a triangle but Run defends it easily.
Dundee pulls Run in to control the position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Run postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Dundee keeping moving, preventing Run from controlling successfully.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Run closes the distance and clinches up with Dundee, looking for a takedown. Run pushes Dundee against the cage but Dundee circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Run cracks Dundee with a good jab.
Michael Dundee is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Run moves in looking to clinch but Dundee pushes him off.
Run's coach down at Foot Loves was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Run's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

Run fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Dundee blocks a head kick by Run.
Dundee shoots in for a takedown but Run shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Run with the counter takedown but Dundee avoids it easily.
Dundee looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Run misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Dundee thinks about countering with a head kick.
Michael Dundee has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Vince Run.
Run doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Run takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Dundee moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Run is breathing heavily.
Run misses with a leg kick
and Dundee counters with a nice uppercut.
Run keeps the fight on the outside.

Dundee doesn't manage to clinch there - Run circles away.
Dundee tries to clinch but Run is having none of it.
Run tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.

Dundee fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Run sprawls well initially but Dundee persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Dundee thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Run's head.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Run is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Dundee scores with a couple of nice shots.
Michael Dundee overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Dundee is looking to advance position but Run won't allow it.
Dundee is trying to control. Run wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Dundee is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Run trying to hold on to Dundee's head to control him but Dundee postures up.
Dundee is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Run tries to lock up and control but Dundee gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Dundee landing strikes from the mount and Run is in trouble!
Dundee prevents Run from getting the reversal.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Run in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.

Dundee lands a couple of good shots and Run has given up his back, trying to escape the position!

Dundee tightening his grip on Run, looking for the choke.
Can Run hold on?! Dundee is landing more strikes to his hapless foe.

Run fending off the submission attempt from Dundee.

Dundee working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Run is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Dundee gets his way!
Dundee controlling the position well here. Run rolled but Dundee kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!


Run tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Dundee takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Run misses with a hook to the body
and Dundee counters with a three punch combo that has Run backing up. Run nods at Dundee to acknowledge the strikes.
Run misses the shot to the body.

Dundee bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Dundee is working Run over with some ground and pound from side control.
Run wants to control but Dundee postures up.
Dundee working the ground and pound.
Run takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Dundee tries to advance to mount but can't.
Dundee misses with the ground and pound.
Run takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Dundee working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Dundee looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Run tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Dundee working away.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Run tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Dundee wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Dundee is looking to take a break and control but Run is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Dundee tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Dundee is putting a hurting on Run here, landing some big shots from side control.
Dundee is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Run can do to turn this around?

Dundee working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Dundee is looking to take a break and control but Run is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Dundee swings around for an armbar but Run sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Dundee's guard.

Run trying to control the position from guard on top but Dundee is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Vince Run has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Michael Dundee is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Run misses the shot to the body.

Well Dundee has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
