The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Trevor Gratis and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sweeney clinches.
Sweeney missing with knees to the body.
Hardwood prevents Sweeney from breaking the clinch.
Hardwood has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Sweeney regains guard immediately.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hardwood tries to free his leg and advance position but Sweeney is retaining full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sweeney is trying to hold Hardwood in close to prevent damage but Hardwood has managed to pass into half guard.
Sweeney is trying to control but can't.
Hardwood throwing shots but Sweeney is blocking nicely.
Hardwood prevents Sweeney from standing back up.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hardwood working over Sweeney with some ground and pound. Sweeney looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Hardwood winds up and cracks Sweeney with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Hardwood seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Sweeney tries to roll over but Hardwood keeps him under control.

Joe Hardwood decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
