14 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Rustam Kersikov! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
26 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ray McChiney! The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McChiney fails to land with a series of punches.
Kersikov takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
The fighters circling - Kersikov throws out the jab but it was never going to land. McChiney is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. McChiney moves away from the strike by Kersikov. McChiney tries to keep at a distance but Kersikov has taken the fight into the clinch. Kersikov's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not. McChiney has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. Kersikov is trying to maintain a safe position but McChiney gets an underhook and turns Kersikov into the cage. McChiney looking for a takedown. McChiney blocks an uppercut.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. McChiney pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. McChiney changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. McChiney throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Kersikov steps to the side to avoid the strikes from McChiney. McChiney fails with a takedown attempt from distance. McChiney shoots in for a double leg but Kersikov sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Rustam Kersikov has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ray McChiney.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kersikov pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Kersikov lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw. Kersikov tries to land a front kick but McChiney steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed. McChiney takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away. Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Kersikov. McChiney throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Ray McChiney seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. McChiney tries for a takedown but Kersikov sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. McChiney throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. A jab from McChiney misses. McChiney avoids the head kick by Kersikov.
McChiney fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Nice uppercut there from Kersikov. McChiney misses with a body punch
and Kersikov counters with a body kick. McChiney shoots in looking for a takedown. Kersikov tries to sprawl out of it but McChiney keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Kersikov manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kersikov buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. McChiney gets a double leg takedown into Kersikov's guard. McChiney wants to pass the guard but Kersikov is keeping the position. Kersikov looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Kersikov manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. McChiney manages to get himself to full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Kersikov would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Kersikov trying to control but McChiney is working from the bottom. Kersikov controls from within his opponent's guard. Kersikov trying to control but McChiney is working from the bottom. That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Kersikov controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. McChiney throws a hook to the side of Kersikov's head but Kersikov sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. McChiney throws a hook but Kersikov avoids it easily. McChiney throws a body punch but Kersikov moves out of range. Kersikov throws a right and a left that both miss. McChiney throws a hook but Kersikov blocks it. No luck for McChiney with that takedown attempt. McChiney chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Kersikov can pounce on him.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Rustam Kersikov dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
McChiney throws a jab but it's blocked by Kersikov. McChiney will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Kersikov looks to land a left hand but McChiney moved out of range nicely. McChiney shoots in and drives through. Kersikov sprawls well. McChiney moves out of range of the body kick from Kersikov.

McChiney closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - McChiney lands in his opponent's guard. McChiney missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Kersikov is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. McChiney throws an elbow that misses. Kersikov uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in McChiney's guard. Nice move by Kersikov! McChiney wants to sweep but no luck. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. McChiney is pulling down on Kersikov's head. It's preventing any offense from Kersikov, at least for the moment. Kersikov is looking to stand up but McChiney won't let him.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. McChiney is trying to control the position but Kersikov postures up. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Kersikov has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of McChiney is proving hard to escape from.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. McChiney thuds a left hand into Kersikov's body. Rustam Kersikov is winning the standup battle so far. Kersikov takes a jab right on the kisser.

Kersikov fakes high and swings low for a body shot but McChiney manages to avoid it. McChiney punishes Kersikov's body with a nice straight punch. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Kersikov misses with the combination.

That's four minutes gone in the round. A swing and a miss from Kersikov. McChiney throws a right hand that misses
and Kersikov counters with a nice low kick that buckles McChiney's knee momentarily. McChiney lands a jab to Kersikov's midsection. Kersikov has closed the distance and engaged McChiney in a clinch.
Kersikov pushes McChiney back against the cage and unloads with a body punch. McChiney breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Kersikov doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Kersikov moves forwards but McChiney connects with a nice, crisp jab. We've been told by Kersikov's head coaches at Abobomination Training $700 13 LEGIT elite coaches that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. McChiney throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Kersikov's waist but Kersikov gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing McChiney off to one side. Kersikov lands a nice leg kick that just misses McChiney's sensitive parts. McChiney scores with a punch to the head. McChiney swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Kersikov counters with a slapping leg kick. Kersikov uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by McChiney.
Kersikov doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Kersikov misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
McChiney on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Rustam Kersikov will probably get the nod. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. And we move into the final round!
Kersikov connects with a high kick. McChiney fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. McChiney closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Kersikov quickly recovers to half guard. Kersikov tries to roll over but McChiney keeps him under control. Kersikov is trying to control but can't.
McChiney is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

McChiney is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Kersikov has one foot on McChiney's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet. Kersikov throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.

and Kersikov counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Jab by Kersikov. Kersikov lands with a right hand. McChiney fakes a jab and then connects with a hook. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. McChiney throws a shot to the body.
Kersikov scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. Kersikov jabs McChiney to the body, keeping him at a distance. Kersikov with a nice cross. Kersikov shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it. McChiney misses with a straight left. McChiney lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin. McChiney throws a right and a left that both miss. Ray McChiney has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Kersikov jabs McChiney right on the nose. McChiney blinks but takes it well. Kersikov scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
That's three minutes gone in the round. A shot to the liver by Kersikov. Beautiful body shot. McChiney tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him. A clash of legs there as McChiney blocks the low kick. McChiney misses with a shot to the body and Kersikov counters with an inside leg kick. Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Kersikov.
McChiney throws the left hand but Kersikov avoids the punch easily. Kersikov throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
McChiney throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Kersikov sees it coming and avoids it easily. McChiney lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Kersikov at a distance.
Kersikov closes the distance and clinches. Kersikov lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of McChiney backwards. McChiney is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Kersikov pulls him back up using the underhooks. McChiney tries to score a body lock takedown but Kersikov shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Kersikov is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that McChiney can do to turn this around? McChiney takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Kersikov keeps control of McChiney as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. McChiney wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Kersikov struggles to land a body shot inside as McChiney controls his hands.

Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! The fighters circling - McChiney throws out the jab but it was never going to land. McChiney takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. McChiney circles away from the clinch attempt.
Kersikov throws a body kick but he wasn't in range. Kersikov moves out of range of the strikes. McChiney is trying hard to land a takedown here. Kersikov sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. A little feinted left hand from Kersikov on the counter but he doesn't commit to it. Rustam Kersikov has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ray McChiney. Kersikov jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
A slapping leg kick lands for Kersikov.
A decent looking cross lands there for McChiney. McChiney misses with a shot to the body and Kersikov counters with a head kick. Kersikov connects with a body shot that sends McChiney's belly button to the back. Kersikov lets loose with a powerful body kick. McChiney will feel that in the morning.
And that's the end of the fight! Rustam Kersikov showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Kersikov, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

In favor of your winner, by unanimous decision... Rustam Kersikov! A determined Rustam Kersikov didn't want to dwell on this fight in his post fight interview. Instead he was more keen to state he wants a title shot. Let's see if he gets it!
