Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Emir Omic (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paul Mikel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Paul Mikel will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Emir Omic!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
4 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Paul Mikel!
The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Matti Vanhoillinen and Ben Zyskovitsi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Omic drives through with a takedown into guard.
Omic trying to control but Mikel is working from the bottom.
Omic is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Mikel has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Omic can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Omic tries to stand but Mikel is controlling from the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mikel trying to keep a closed guard but Omic is proving a slippery customer.
Omic trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Omic trying to move into half guard but instead Mikel has managed to sweep!
Mikel trying to control the position from guard on top but Omic is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Omic wants to stand but Mikel is controlling the position.
Mikel postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Omic is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Mikel, into his guard.
Omic throws an elbow that misses. Mikel uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Omic's guard. Nice move by Mikel!
Omic avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Mikel stopping the sweep attempt from Omic.
Mikel is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Omic working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Mikel doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Mikel manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Mikel passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Omic is trying to improve his position.

Omic bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!
Omic feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Mikel not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Mikel looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Omic controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Mikel is pulling down on Omic's head to control his posture.

Mikel moves out of range of the leg kick from Omic.
Mikel doesn't manage to clinch there - Omic circles away.
Omic drops down looking for a counter takedown but Mikel sprawls and moves away.
Mikel fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Omic avoids it really well and circles away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Emir Omic dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Omic tries to clinch up but Mikel circles away and keeps his distance.
Mikel tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Omic is looking for a counter combo.
Omic is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Mikel can do to turn this around?
Mikel looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Omic is defended easily by Mikel.
Nice takedown defense from Omic. No joy for Mikel on that attempt.
Mikel throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Omic's waist but Omic gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Mikel off to one side.
Emir Omic has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Paul Mikel.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Omic bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Omic is looking to take a break and control but Mikel is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Omic has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Mikel gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Omic wanted to stand there but Mikel had control of the position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Omic looking to sit in guard and control but Mikel gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Omic working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Mikel has passed into half guard!
Omic is positioning himself well to prevent Mikel advancing to mount.
Mikel is trying to control the action in half guard but Omic is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Mikel throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Omic wants to get back to full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mikel trying to control the action but Omic is working from the bottom.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Omic darts in and clinches Mikel up against the cage.
Omic is trying to break free.
Omic drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Mikel gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Mikel breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Omic leaves Mikel with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Emir Omic dominated that second round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!
Omic is looking to clinch.
Omic avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Omic has a takedown stuffed.
Omic closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Omic lands in his opponent's guard.
Mikel is adopting a defensive guard.

Mikel can't keep his opponent in guard - Omic advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Mikel is refusing to be controlled, as Omic sits in half guard.
Omic wants to stand but his hand is trapped. Mikel uses the opportunity to regain full guard.
Mikel is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Omic passes Mikel's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Mikel is trying to control but can't.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Omic is looking for a kimura here.
Mikel keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Mikel is staying active underneath Omic, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Mikel actively working from the bottom here.
Omic not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Mikel makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Mikel.

Omic postures up.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Mikel shoots in but Omic avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Omic moves into the clinch.
Mikel has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Omic avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Omic drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Omic is trying to drag Mikel to the mat but Mikel just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Emir Omic. That's going to take a lot out of him.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Omic is trying to break the clinch but Mikel is controlling him.
Come on Mikel - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Omic gets underhooks to prevent Mikel's takedown attempt.
Mikel jumps guard but Omic turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Omic is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Mikel to keep the fight standing.
Mikel tries to break the clinch but Omic is controlling the position.
Paul Mikel has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Emir Omic is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Mikel misses with a hook from the clinch.
And that's the end of the fight!

Well Omic has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
