Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Woodrow Daniels! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Orik Salazar! The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Konstantin Menshow and Igor Prikhodko.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Salazar fails with the takedown and Daniels counters with a left to the body. Daniels tries to close the distance and clinch but Salazar swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Salazar tries to keep at a distance but Daniels has taken the fight into the clinch. Daniels really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Daniels breaks from the clinch.

Orik Salazar seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Daniels rushes Salazar and presses him up against the cage. Salazar tries to pull guard but Daniels holds him up against the cage and eventually Salazar drops back down to his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Salazar misses with an elbow over the top. Daniels pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Salazar fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Daniels avoids it really well and circles away. Woodrow Daniels has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Orik Salazar. Salazar shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Daniels defends it nicely. Salazar swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Daniels jabs at Salazar's body.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Salazar gets in close and instigates a clinch. Salazar looking to stall.
Daniels manages to break the clinch.
Salazar shoots in and drives through. Daniels sprawls well. Daniels clinches up with Salazar and pushes him back against the cage. Daniels's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Salazar misses with a takedown attempt and Daniels holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Salazar looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Daniels taking a breather. Daniels breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Daniels defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Salazar. Daniels tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Salazar throws a counter combo. Salazar misses with the body kick and Daniels counters with a body kick. Salazar throws a head kick that misses and Daniels holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Salazar drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Daniels gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Salazar thows a leg kick but Daniels checks it and Daniels counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Daniels.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Daniels displaying some good clinch control by pressing Salazar up against the cage. Daniels dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage. Daniels stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
Daniels seems to have come into the fight with the intention of avoiding any damage in the clinch, rather than actually showing any aggression. Salazar looking to slow down the pace here. Daniels gets underhooks to prevent Salazar's takedown attempt.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Salazar tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Daniels smiles and moves away.

Salazar wants to get back to full guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Daniels misses with a head shot. Salazar uses the momentum to regain guard. Daniels would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Daniels avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Daniels with a flurry of punches that miss. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Salazar can do anything to dispel that myth. Daniels throwing strikes but missing. Salazar working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Daniels. Salazar wants to stand and escape but Daniels is having none of it. Daniels got a little sloppy there for a moment and Salazar has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Daniels has managed to get both his arms back between Salazar's legs - danger averted. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Salazar is on top in guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Salazar trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Daniels tries to land a sweep but no joy. Daniels has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Salazar trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Salazar trying to stand up but can't free himself from Daniels's guard. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Salazar tries to free his leg and advance position but Daniels is retaining full guard. Salazar slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Orik Salazar is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Horrible takedown attempt by Salazar or perhaps it was just good defense by Daniels, which made it look bad. Daniels drops down looking for a counter takedown but Salazar sprawls and moves away. Salazar with a poor takedown and Daniels counters with a nice uppercut. Woodrow Daniels has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Orik Salazar. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Salazar doesn't succeed with the takedown and Daniels counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Daniels is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Salazar has managed to free his arm - good work.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Salazar wants to get back to full guard. Salazar looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Daniels is looking for a kimura but Salazar is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Daniels to get the leverage. Woodrow Daniels overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Salazar makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Salazar. Salazar had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Daniels defends it easily. Daniels wants to get up but he can't break Salazar's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Salazar tries for a takedown but Daniels circles away easily and Daniels moves into the clinch. Daniels breaks from the clinch.
Salazar shoots in looking for a takedown. Daniels tries to sprawl out of it but Salazar keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Daniels manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Daniels misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Daniels displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Salazar. Daniels drops down looking for a counter takedown but Salazar sprawls and moves away.
And that's the end of the fight! Woodrow Daniels showed his dominance in that final round. Well Daniels has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
