0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Nikolai Vasilievich! The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Illya Tyunina and Igor Prikhodko.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Vasilievich fails with a takedown attempt. Castro swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect. Castro moves out of range of the strikes. Castro attempts a counter takedown but Vasilievich avoids it well and moves away. Nikolai Vasilievich seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Vasilievich circles away from the clinch attempt.
Vasilievich misses with a body punch
and Castro counters with a three punch combo that has Vasilievich backing up. Vasilievich nods at Castro to acknowledge the strikes. Vasilievich takes the fight into the clinch. Nice body punch from Vasilievich - that landed with a thud.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Vasilievich. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Vasilievich staying calm. That's three minutes gone in the round. Vasilievich decides to take the fight back to the feet. Castro rushes Vasilievich and presses him up against the cage. Castro gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Vasilievich.
Vasilievich jumps guard but Castro stands there with Vasilievich around his waist. Vasilievich gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Vasilievich is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Castro is defending well. Vasilievich breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Vasilievich throws a body kick that misses. The fight moves into the clinch position. Vasilievich tries to break the clinch but Castro is controlling the position. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Castro tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Vasilievich's elbow. Vasilievich is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Castro to keep the fight standing. A frustrated look appears on Vasilievich's face as he tries to break the clinch. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Vasilievich leaves Castro with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Vasilievich feints the counter takedown. Vasilievich darts in and clinches Castro up against the cage. Castro tries to throw a body punch but Vasilievich avoids it by throwing Castro back against the cage. Vasilievich drags the fight down to the ground.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Castro seems keen to control Vasilievich's posture.

Vasilievich wants to control from the top but Castro keeps moving. Castro might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Vasilievich decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. A leg kick checked by Castro. Left hook, right uppercut from Vasilievich.

Castro tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Vasilievich paws at him with a jab and circles away. Nikolai Vasilievich seems to be getting the better of the standup. Castro wants to clinch up but Vasilievich keeps it at a distance. Horrible takedown attempt by Castro or perhaps it was just good defense by Vasilievich, which made it look bad. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Castro fails in his attempt to clinch. Mitch Castro has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Nikolai Vasilievich is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Vasilievich shoots in for a double leg but Castro sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
