Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Junior De Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dan Maure (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Junior De Silva has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 23 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Junior De Silva!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 11 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Dan Maure!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, William Peck and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Maure feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

De Silva is trying to control the position but Maure postures up.
De Silva has control of Maure's left arm, preventing Maure from doing any damage.
De Silva has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Maure missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Maure working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
De Silva seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Maure wants to control from the top but De Silva keeps moving.

Maure tries to close the distance and clinch but De Silva swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
De Silva darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Maure needs to keep his hands up - De Silva had a free shot at his head there.


It looks like Dan Maure has been cut.
Maure misses with a two punch combination.
Junior De Silva is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
De Silva tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Maure manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
De Silva displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Maure.

Maure throws a right hand that De Silva ducks under and follows up with a left that De Silva also avoids with ease.
De Silva swings and misses with a hook to the body.
De Silva leaves Maure with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Maure misses with a wild combination.
An attempted straight right counter from De Silva misses the target.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
De Silva misses with a body shot.
Maure changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
De Silva bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Maure's head backwards.
Maure is still on wobbly legs! Can De Silva finish him?
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
De Silva wobbles Maure with a right hand and the left hook that follows puts him on his rear! De Silva dives in with a huge flying punch that connects right on the button and puts Maure to sleep! - What a violent and spectacular finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:14 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Junior De Silva!
After the fight, Junior De Silva was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
