Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Darrick Wagner! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Rodney Carpenter! The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Carpenter swinging wildly here.
Carpenter misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Wagner appears to be looking for a big counter. Carpenter throws a combination that misses so Wagner counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Wagner stands and steps away. Carpenter gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Carpenter swinging wildly here.
Carpenter misses with a body kick. Carpenter misses with a jab, cross combination.
Carpenter lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Carpenter.
It looks like Darrick Wagner has been cut. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Carpenter misses with a kick to the body so Wagner counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Wagner is standing up over Carpenter. Carpenter looks to escape but Wagner dives into side control.
Wagner has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. Carpenter gets off balance looking for a body kick and Wagner holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wagner can't break the clinch.
Wagner escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Carpenter throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Wagner counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Carpenter looks winded! Carpenter tries to kick Wagner off in order to stand up. Wagner Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control. Carpenter being controlled for a moment. Wagner decides to take the fight back to the feet. Wagner bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Carpenter throws a couple of strikes even though he's not really in a good position to do so.
Wagner will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Wagner stands up and beckons Carpenter to his feet. Carpenter misses with a hook. Wagner ducked under it nicely. Carpenter misses with a series of wild punches.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Carpenter throws a leg kick that is checked and Wagner counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Wagner. Wagner looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Wagner gets to his feet - Carpenter follows without any prompting. Carpenter throws a left and a right that both miss
and Wagner counters with a shoot takedown. Carpenter fights it but they end up in guard. Wagner decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Wagner manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Carpenter on his heels. He'll look to pass Carpenter's guard now, I'm sure.

Wagner dives in and scores a takedown into Carpenter's guard. Carpenter is working an open guard so Wagner takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Carpenter throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Rodney Carpenter seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Wagner dives in and scores a takedown into Carpenter's guard. Wagner sitting in guard, not really doing much. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Carpenter is working an open guard so Wagner takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Carpenter moves into the clinch. Carpenter wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Wagner has him pressed against the cage. Carpenter has Wagner pressed against the cage, preventing Wagner from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Wagner breaks the clinch.
Carpenter throws a body kick but he was well out of range there. Carpenter throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Wagner cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Wagner moves out of range of the strikes. Carpenter misses with a lunging right hand
and Wagner counters with a nice uppercut. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Darrick Wagner dominated that round. The cut man is working on Darrick Wagner's cut. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Wagner dodges the punch combination from Carpenter.
Wagner attempts a counter takedown but Carpenter avoids it well and moves away. Carpenter throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Carpenter manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Wagner on his heels. He'll look to pass Wagner's guard now, I'm sure. Wagner is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Wagner stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Carpenter to get to his feet. Wagner moves out of range as Carpenter strikes. Wagner drops down looking for a counter takedown but Carpenter sprawls and moves away. Carpenter misses with a double jab
and Wagner counters with a single leg into guard. Carpenter didn't expect that. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Wagner is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Carpenter is breathing heavily. Wagner has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Carpenter tries to bum rush Wagner with a series of wild strikes but Wagner uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Rodney Carpenter seems to be getting the better of the standup. Wagner darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Wagner stalling. Darrick Wagner overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Wagner postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Carpenter to stand up. Wagner shoots for a takedown but Carpenter saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Carpenter throws a head kick that misses and Wagner counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Wagner.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Wagner advances position into side control! Carpenter being controlled for a moment. Wagner stands up. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Carpenter stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Carpenter wants it to stay on the feet. Wagner looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Carpenter! Wagner has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. Wagner will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Darrick Wagner. That's going to take a lot out of him. Carpenter gets a takedown into half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Wagner regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Carpenter. Wagner is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Carpenter must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Carpenter throws a strike but Wagner rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Carpenter is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Wagner is controlling him. Wagner sitting in guard here, content to control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Carpenter is looking to stand back up but Wagner counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Carpenter. Wagner is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Carpenter can do to turn this around? Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Wagner in particular looking to stall. Wagner's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Wagner stands up from half guard. Wagner showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Carpenter.
Wagner tries to counter by clinching up but Carpenter breaks away and moves out of range. Carpenter shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Carpenter was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Darrick Wagner dominated that second round. The cut man is working on Darrick Wagner's cut. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!
Wagner shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Carpenter as he avoids it easily. Carpenter smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Wagner is rocked! Wagner drops his hands for a split second and Carpenter immediately capitalizes on the opportunity by smashing a powerful hook into Wagner face, sending his mouthguard sailing through the air, much to the delight of the crowd. Carpenter follows up with a right hand that knocks Wagner into next week. He's out cold and this fight is over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:16 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Rodney Carpenter! Rodney Carpenter tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
