Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Roy Nelson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Leon DeLaurier (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nelson comes to the cage accompanied by Don't Mean A Thing. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, Roy Nelson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Leon DeLaurier!
The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Yukihiro Shimada and Yasuomi Hirokawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
DeLaurier shoots in but Nelson avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Nelson's hands are dropping dangerously low here and DeLaurier connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Nelson scrambles back to his feet.
Nelson scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
DeLaurier swings for the body but Nelson moves out of range.
Nelson connects with a single shot there.

DeLaurier closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Nelson did well to prevent DeLaurier getting side control.
DeLaurier thows a huge punch but Nelson dodges it nicely.
DeLaurier is looking to take a break and control but Nelson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Nelson is looking to control DeLaurier's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Nelson avoid being mounted?
Nelson is not content to let DeLaurier control the position.

DeLaurier shoots in for a double leg but Nelson sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Nelson cracks DeLaurier with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
DeLaurier lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Nelson circles away quickly and effectively.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!

DeLaurier fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Nelson sprawls well initially but DeLaurier persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

DeLaurier is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

DeLaurier throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Nelson works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

DeLaurier throws an elbow that misses. Nelson uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in DeLaurier's guard. Nice move by Nelson!

DeLaurier is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
DeLaurier tries to land a sweep but no joy.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

DeLaurier fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Nelson to the ground. DeLaurier is now in Nelson's guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

DeLaurier stops Nelson from getting back to his feet.

DeLaurier wants to pass to mount but Nelson is defending the position.
DeLaurier lands strikes from half guard.
Nelson tries to kick DeLaurier off but DeLaurier keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

DeLaurier shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Nelson defends it nicely.
Roy Nelson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Leon DeLaurier.
Nelson looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

and Nelson counters with a nice uppercut.
DeLaurier shoots in but Nelson avoids the takedown attempt easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Leon DeLaurier will probably get the nod - 10:9.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Nelson circles away before darting back in with a big straight right hand. It connects beautifully and sends DeLaurier tumbling to the canvas! He's out cold! Nelson wins by KO!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:05 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Roy Nelson!
Our winner, Roy Nelson, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
