The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Aldo misses with a takedown
and Melnicata counters with a single leg into guard. Aldo didn't expect that.
Melnicata scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Aldo has his foot on Melnicata's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Melnicata works his way back into a safe position though.
Melnicata seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Melnicata has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Aldo to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Melnicata is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Aldo pulls down on the head and he's put Melnicata to sleep! This one is all over!
