PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Markus Landfill (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dolph Spengler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Landfill's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Pretty tied up. Spengler has chosen Bully as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Markus Landfill!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Dolph Spengler!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Robert Douchet and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Spengler instigates a clinch.

Landfill turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Spengler tries to buck Landfill off but Landfill is having none of it.
Landfill in side control, throwing shots but Spengler defends.
An elbow from Landfill crashes against the mat.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Spengler on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
Landfill in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
Landfill works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Spengler parries the strikes from Landfill easily there. Landfill is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Spengler to escape.

Landfill throwing strikes but Spengler manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!
Landfill could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Landfill tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Landfill controlling the position for now.

Spengler is looking for a kimura but Landfill is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Spengler to get the leverage.
Landfill gets full guard.
Landfill has Spengler pulled in close to control his posture.
Landfill working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Spengler.
Landfill on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Landfill tries to get out of the position.
Landfill tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Landfill is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Landfill wants to sweep here but Spengler controlling him for the moment.
Landfill is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Spengler keeps control of the position for the meantime.

Landfill has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Spengler is trying to stand.
The referee warns Spengler that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Landfill cracks Spengler with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Landfill postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Spengler looks a forlorn figure.


Spengler is rocked!
Oooooh, big shot lands for Landfill! Spengler is hurt baaadly! Landfill is firing away with more strikes - Spengler is covering up... the ref is warning him to do something. He's just covering up though still and the ref has to step in to end the fight! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Markus Landfill!
A relieved looking Markus Landfill thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
Dolph Spengler was interviewed post fight and said 'It's a shame!'.
