Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, David Reed! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Blue Smith! The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Konstantin Menshow and Illya Tyunina.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Smith has Reed up against the cage in a clinch.
Reed scores with an uppercut up the middle. Reed dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage. Smith dodges an elbow strike from Reed.
Reed stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
A nice glancing elbow lands by Reed. Reed looking to throw knees to the head but Smith is blocking nicely.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Reed tries a knee to the head but he's missed.

Reed lands an elbow just above Smith 's eye. Reed prevents the takedown attempt.

Reed lands a nice uppercut. Reed throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Smith blocks it with crossed arms. Smith jumps guard but Reed turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing. David Reed has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Blue Smith. Reed misses with a shot to the kidneys.

Reed working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely. Smith decides to pull guard. Reed postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Reed is looking to work some ground and pound but Smith has wrist control. Reed throws a big elbow that misses. Reed throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Smith wants to stand up but Reed is controlling him. Reed trying to control the position from guard on top but Smith is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Reed's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Reed trying to control but Smith is working from the bottom. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Reed missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Smith moves out of range of the body kick from Reed.
David Reed is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Smith blocks a head kick by Reed.
Smith throws a series of strikes that have Reed backpedaling.
It looks like David Reed has been cut. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Smith blocks a head kick by Reed.
Smith darts in and clinches Reed up against the cage. Smith trying to land knees to the body.
Smith takes an elbow to the temple. Reed lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Reed struggles to land a body shot inside as Smith controls his hands.

A head punch on the inside from Reed fails to land. Reed working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely. Reed is leaning against Smith and scores with a nice uppercut to the body. Reed misses with a punch to the body.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The referee is keeping an eye on Reed - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Smith goes for a takedown attempt but Reed pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Smith takes a jab right on the kisser.
Reed keeps Smith at a distance using the push kick. Reed lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Reed throws a sloppy head kick and Smith moves out of range easily. Reed keeps Smith at a distance using the push kick. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Smith avoids the head kick by Reed.
Smith dives in and grabs Reed's left leg, looking for a takedown. Reed pushes down on Smith's head and hops out. Smith looks winded! Reed lands with a cross. Reed lands a front kick. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
David Reed dominated that round. The cut man is working on David Reed's cut. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Smith misses with a body punch
and Reed counters with a flying knee. Nice. Smith shoots in and drives through. Reed sprawls well. Reed looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Reed has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ. Smith on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Reed. Reed obviously looking to wear him down.

Smith lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected. A left and a right from Reed both land. Nice combination. Smith gets in close and instigates a clinch. Reed misses with a body punch.
Reed gets through Smith's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head. Reed lands a knee to the body.
Reed is struggling to control the position. Reed misses with an elbow strike.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Reed stops a takedown attempt from Smith.

Smith is rocked! Reed is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace. Smith is still on wobbly legs! Can Reed finish him? Reed has Smith pressed up against the cage in a tight Thai clinch. Smith is arching his back, trying to avoid the knees but a big one sneaks through from Reed - that's hurt Smith badly! Oh, another knee lands and Smith is covering up! The referee steps in to save him - possibly a bit early but Smith doesn't seem to be complaining.
