PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jackson Cash (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brad Ryan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cash comes to the cage accompanied by Folsom Prison Blues. Ryan has chosen Freestyler as his entrance music. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 8 - 0, fighting out of London, Jackson Cash!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Brad Ryan!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, Colin Fotheringham and Paul Tew.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Cash closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Cash looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Ryan is doing well to control the position and prevent Cash from advancing to side control.

Cash is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Ryan has managed to free his arm - good work.
Cash missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Cash really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Ryan trying to control from the bottom.
Cash working over Ryan with some ground and pound. Ryan looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.

Ryan looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Ryan is looking to control Cash's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Ryan avoid being mounted?

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Cash avoids a low kick by using good footwork.

Cash attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.

Ryan closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Ryan lands in his opponent's guard.
Cash wants to stand up but Ryan is controlling him.

Cash has an active guard here but Ryan has managed to pass into half guard.

Cash looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Cash is breathing heavily.
Well, if Ryan is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Cash works his way to full guard. Good work.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Ryan throwing strikes but missing.
Ryan controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Cash looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Ryan passes into half guard.

Ryan decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Cash tries to work over Ryan's front leg with a kick but Ryan checks it.
Cash fails with an attempt to clinch.
Nice body punch from Ryan.
Cash with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Ryan to score with a decent uppercut.

Ryan bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Cash is not content to let Ryan control the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Ryan stands up and beckons Cash to his feet.

Ryan scores with a takedown into Cash's guard.
Ryan trying to control the position from guard on top but Cash is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Ryan slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Ryan lands some shots froms side control.
Ryan trying to control the action but Cash is working from the bottom.
Cash manages to get back to half guard.
Cash knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Ryan on the ground.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Cash wants to get back to full guard but Ryan has mounted him!

Ryan gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!
Cash is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Ryan.
Cash misses with a takedown attempt
and Ryan counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Ryan throws a nice inside leg kick.
Cash clinches but Ryan breaks the clinch
and Ryan counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Cash thinking.
Ryan scores with a three punch combo!

Ryan shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Cash is trying to escape the mount.

Ryan working for a submission but Cash is keeping him at bay.
This has been an exciting period of action!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Ryan is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Cash has managed to escape the submission attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Brad Ryan dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!

Cash is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Ryan.
Cash doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Ryan counters with a two punch combo.

Ryan decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Cash wants to get back to full guard.

Ryan passes to full mount!
Brad Ryan has got the better of the ground game so far.
Ryan mounts Cash! Really nice guard pass there!
Cash is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Ryan stands up from mount. Strange move.
Donk. Ryan catches Cash right on the button with a cross.

Ryan scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Cash looking for submissions off his back.

Ryan is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Ryan slips a nice elbow through Cash's hands, connecting with Cash's forehead.
Cash on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Cash tries to get out of the position.
Ryan seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Cash does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Ryan slows the pace down in half guard.
Cash is refusing to be controlled, as Ryan sits in half guard.

Cash looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Ryan wants to lay and pray for a moment but Cash keeps working.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Ryan's corner calls for a 1-2. Ryan obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

Ryan feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ryan in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Cash keeping moving, preventing Ryan from controlling successfully.

Cash is looking to sinch up a triangle. Ryan throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Cash's body to avoid the submission. Cash has instead reached around Ryan's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Cash arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:02 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Jackson Cash!
