PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Dorsey Kline (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Roberto Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Dorsey Kline!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Roberto Silva!
The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Daniel Cesar and Alexandre Firmino.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Kline takes one on the chin but seems OK.


It looks like Dorsey Kline has been cut.
Silva swings and misses with a shot to the body
and Kline counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Kline misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Kline slips under a jab from Silva.
Silva lands a nice looking kick to the body. Kline takes a step back to recover.
Silva shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Silva fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Kline, pushing him back against the cage.

Silva pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Silva shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Kline sprawls well. Kline wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Silva gets slowly back to his feet.
Kline throws a big counter combination but Silva scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Silva shoots in and drives through. Kline sprawls well.
Kline seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
Dorsey Kline has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Roberto Silva.

Silva changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Kline looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Silva looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Kline holds on to Silva's head and controls the position momentarily.
Silva is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Kline manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Kline pushes Silva off looking to stand but Silva dives back in and keeps control.
Silva wants to take a breather but Kline is having none of it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Silva looks winded!
Kline is looking to improve his position.
Silva is thwarting Kline's attempts to control the position.

Kline has one foot on Silva's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.

Silva closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Silva is trying to drag Kline to the mat but Kline just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Silva jumps guard.
Kline postures up in Silva's guard and throws a big left but Silva blocks it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Silva working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Kline.
Kline has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Kline controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Silva is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Kline throws a strike but Silva rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.


Kline is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Silva rolls with it to try and escape but Kline cranks on the arm and Silva is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Dorsey Kline!
