Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Mr Ward (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Peter McBain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McBain has chosen Harder Than You Think by Public Enemy as his entrance music. Peter McBain will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Mr Ward!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 13 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Peter McBain!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Yves DeLean and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McBain throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
McBain swinging wildly here.
Ward misses with a takedown attempt - McBain sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
McBain throws a series of strikes that have Ward backpedaling.
McBain throws a right hand that Ward ducks under and follows up with a left that Ward also avoids with ease.
McBain has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Ward is landing a low percentage of strikes.
McBain ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Ward dodges the punch combination from McBain.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
McBain connects with a jab.
Ward shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. McBain defends it nicely.

A head kick misses from McBain.
Ward throws a sloppy head kick and McBain moves out of range easily.

Peter McBain is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Ward.

Ward shoots in for a double leg but McBain sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
McBain throws a shot to the body.
McBain throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
McBain lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Ward throws a head kick that misses.
McBain feints a jab promting Ward to slip. McBain then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Ward slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Ward walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Ward ducks right into an uppercut from McBain.

McBain lands with a slapping head kick.
Ward misses the shot to the body.
McBain lands a jab-cross combination.
McBain misses with a series of wild punches.
McBain throws a nice looking combination but Ward bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Ward on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
McBain lands with a kick to the ribs.
McBain paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Nice takedown defense from McBain. No joy for Ward on that attempt.
McBain moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Ward fails with an attempt to clinch.

Ward takes the fight into the clinch.
Ward looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Ward jumps guard but McBain turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

McBain breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Ward doesn't manage to clinch there - McBain circles away.
McBain digs a good hook to Ward's body.
Ward moves forwards but McBain connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by McBain!
McBain dodges the punch combination from Ward.

Ward clinches up with McBain and pushes him back against the cage.
Ward working hard to break the clinch.

Ward successfully pulls guard.

Ward looking for submissions from the bottom but instead McBain passes into half guard.
McBain is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
McBain tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Ward.
Ward regains full guard. Nicely done.

Ward throws his legs up looking for a submission but McBain uses it to pass to side control.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Ward is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked McBain off and has taken his back!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Peter McBain dominated that round.
That's time! Ward's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Ward will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
McBain jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
McBain throws a nice looking combination but Ward bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Ward tries to clinch up but McBain circles away and keeps his distance.
Ward moves to clinch but McBain breaks away
and McBain counters with a straight right hand.

Ward shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches McBain napping and manages to drive through into side control!
The strikes coming from Ward are missing the target in this wave of attacks.

Ward thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

McBain explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!
McBain is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.

Ward showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from McBain.
McBain lands with a nice combination. Ward backs away looking to recover.
Ward gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
and McBain connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
McBain pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Ward back to the cage. McBain follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
McBain has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
McBain throws a sloppy head kick and Ward moves out of range easily.
Ward went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Ward takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Ward closes the distance but McBain moves to the side
and McBain counters with a two punch combo.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Ward fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
McBain looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mr Ward. That's going to take a lot out of him.
McBain fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
McBain has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Ward scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
McBain is refusing to be controlled, as Ward sits in half guard.
McBain has hold of Ward's hands but Ward slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ward trying to mount his opponent but McBain defends it.
Ward throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Ward thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed McBain's head.

Ward is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Ward is looking to advance position but McBain won't allow it.
McBain is not content to let Ward control the position.
McBain regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Ward.

Ward drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but McBain manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Ward has McBain in his guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

McBain gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Ward takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
McBain digs a good body shot into Ward's ribs.
McBain fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Ward on the side of the head.
Peter McBain seems to be getting the better of the standup.
McBain lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Horrible takedown attempt by Ward or perhaps it was just good defense by McBain, which made it look bad.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Peter McBain showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

Peter McBain seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ward wants to clinch but McBain slips to the side
and McBain makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
McBain lands a jab to the head.
McBain cracks Ward with a right hand to the side of the head.
McBain cracks Ward with an open hand slap.
McBain scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
McBain throws a head kick that half lands.
Ward fails in his attempt to clinch.
Ward is looking to clinch.
McBain closes the distance and lands a one-two.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Ward moves forwards but McBain connects with a nice, crisp jab.
McBain thuds his right hand into Ward's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
The fight stays on the outside here - Ward looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
A little jabbing left from McBain on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.

McBain dips to his left and cracks Ward with an uppercut!
McBain jabs at Ward's body.
Ward throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
A nice combination there by McBain.
Ward wants to clinch.
Ward dives in and grabs McBain's left leg, looking for a takedown. McBain pushes down on Ward's head and hops out.
McBain lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Ward circles away quickly and effectively.
Ward looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.
McBain misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Danga de danga de dang - McBain scores with a four punch combination!
McBain misses with the combination.
Ward lifts his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick.

Ward avoids a punch combination nicely.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Ward doesn't succeed with the takedown
and McBain counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Ward darts in trying to clinch
and McBain counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Nice cross by McBain.
McBain misses with a few strikes there.
Ward tries to close the distance and clinch up but McBain swats him away and circles back towards the center.
McBain lands a two punch combo.
Ward takes a kick to the side of the head.
McBain moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Ward takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

And that's the end of the fight!
Peter McBain comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got McBain winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
