Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Paul Thomas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Max Williams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Paul Thomas! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Max Williams! The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Chris Edwards and Daniel Bishop.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Some wild striking there from Thomas.
Williams scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Thomas takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better. Thomas is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Williams has just dragged him back down to the mat. Williams tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Williams has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Williams trying to control the action but Thomas is working from the bottom. Thomas pushes Williams away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Williams gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. Thomas explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there! Williams dodges the punch combination from Thomas.

Williams shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Thomas is trying to stand up here but Williams is controlling him well. Thomas is breathing heavily.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Thomas wants to get back to his feet. Williams trying to control the action but Thomas is working from the bottom. Williams is nestled in close to Thomas, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Thomas really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Thomas is trying to stand back up but Williams is controlling him

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Thomas will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Williams clinches with his opponent.
Thomas is pressed up against the cage. Williams has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Thomas down to the mat. Thomas avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Thomas throws a right and a left that both miss. Thomas throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Williams. Thomas misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Williams darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Williams scoring with strikes to the body and head. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Williams has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Thomas takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position. Thomas wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.

That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Williams is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Thomas can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Williams wants to pass to mount but Thomas is defending the position. Williams wants to take a breather but Thomas is having none of it. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Williams landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Williams prevents Thomas from standing back up.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Williams closes the distance and clinches. Williams drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Paul Thomas has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Max Williams. Thomas throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Williams blocks it with crossed arms. Thomas throws a knee to the head but misses.
Williams jumps guard but Thomas stands there with Williams around his waist. Williams gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Thomas is fighting off a takedown attempt but Williams is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Thomas to the mat. Thomas regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Williams connects with a nice short shot to Thomas's temple.

Williams wants to clinch. Thomas throws a right hand that Williams ducks under and follows up with a left that Williams also avoids with ease. Williams drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Thomas takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Thomas is trying to escape and get back to his feet. Williams remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Williams has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Williams wants to control from the top but Thomas keeps moving. Williams won't allow Thomas to get back to his feet. Thomas trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful. And that's the end of the fight! Max Williams comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Williams has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today.
