Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tony Mayo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Demetryos Mota (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Demetryos Mota was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tony Mayo! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Demetryos Mota! The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Chris Downing and Stewart Dunkirk.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mayo has taken the fight to the clinch.
Mota trying to control the position but instead, Mayo has worked for underhooks and has pushed Mota into the cage. Mayo prevents the takedown attempt.
Mota is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage. Mota jumps guard but Mayo stands there with Mota around his waist. Mota gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Mota has a couple of punches blocked by Mayo.
Mayo pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Mayo feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Mota has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Mayo can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Mota is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Mayo is trying to get back to full guard. Mayo keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Mota moves into full mount! Mayo won't be happy about that! Mayo working to try and regain half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Mayo is looking to improve his position but Mota isn't that keen on the idea. Mota avoids the attempt from Mayo to control. Poor strikes thrown by Mota there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Mayo wants to hold on but Mota pushes him away. Mota wants to finish this one by submission but Mayo is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Mota. Mota looks gassed! Mota is working for a guillotine from mount but Mayo frees his head quite easily.
Mota goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Mayo is on top in guard.
Mota has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Mayo is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Mayo stopping the sweep attempt from Mota. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Mayo advances position into side control! Mayo decides to take the fight back to the feet. Mota with a poor takedown and Mayo counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Tony Mayo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Demetryos Mota. Mota has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Mayo can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Mayo slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Mayo wants to control from the top but Mota keeps moving. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Tony Mayo dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Mota tries for a takedown but Mayo circles away easily and Mayo counters with a nice double leg into side control. Mota won't be happy with that. Mota tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Mayo wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet. Mota manages to work his way to half guard, despite Mayo's best efforts. Mota pushes Mayo off looking to stand but Mayo dives back in and keeps control.
Mayo lands with a punch from half guard. Mayo is figuring out what he wants to do next. Mota flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

Mota wants to get back to full guard. Mota looking to force a kimura from the bottom here. He's concentrating on that move too much though and Mayo pushes past his half guard into mount!
That's one minute gone in the round. Mayo is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Mota can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Mota is trying to escape the mount.

Mayo avoids the attempt from Mota to control. A nice elbow there by Mayo. Mayo looking to ground and pound but Mota is blocking nicely. Mayo controlling his opponent. Mota is looking to get to half guard.

Mayo is trying to stand up but he's being controlled by his opponent. Mota swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing. Mota wants to control but Mayo is having none of it. Mota is desperately trying to improve his position but Mayo has a good base and remains in mount. Mota slips a leg in and gets back to half guard. Mota tries to get to full guard but Mayo has control of the leg. Mota looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Mayo is keen to just control but Mota is a slippery customer.

Mota wants to get back to his feet. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Mayo postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Mota to stand up. Mota doesn't succeed with the takedown and Mayo counters with a nice double leg into side control. Mota won't be happy with that. Tony Mayo overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Mota is looking to reverse the position. Mota manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Mota is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Mayo pulls his head out easily.

Mota escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Mayo gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Mota throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. You get the feeling that Mota really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Mayo content just to control the position here. Mota bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! Mota would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Mayo knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Mota on the ground. Mayo pushes Mota off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there. Mota misses with a takedown and Mayo counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Mayo is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Demetryos Mota has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Mayo is pulling down on Mota's head to control his posture. Mayo is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Mota is looking to work some ground and pound but Mayo has wrist control. Tony Mayo is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Mayo avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Tony Mayo. Well Mayo has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win...
