Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mark Powers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Niko Cul (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters really staring eachother down here, as Niko Cul enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mark Powers!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Niko Cul!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Daniel Franklin and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Powers scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Powers cracks Cul with a big elbow.


It looks like Niko Cul has been cut.

Powers is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Cul knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Cul tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Cul wings away with a couple of strikes but they don't land.
Cul tries to strike from the bottom but misses.
Cul struggling a bit here.
Cul is trying to strike from the bottom but Powers has passed into full mount.
Powers knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Cul on the ground.
Cul takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Powers trying to control but Cul is having none of it.

Powers with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Cul tries to lock up and control but Powers gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Powers wants to control the pace but Cul is squirming around nicely.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Powers seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Cul looking to force a kimura from the bottom here. He's concentrating on that move too much though and Powers pushes past his half guard into mount!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Powers tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Cul manages to work his way to half guard, despite Powers's best efforts.
Powers is trying to control the action in half guard but Cul is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Powers connects with a nice short shot to Cul's temple.

Powers drops an elbow to the side of Cul's head.

Cul is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Powers pulls his head out easily.
Powers lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

Cul manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Cul is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Powers is just riding it out for now. Cul eventually gives up the hold.

Cul is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Powers doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Cul.
Powers tries to roll over but Cul keeps him under control.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Cul is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Powers defends it well.
Powers avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Cul.
Cul throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Powers controlling the position well.
Powers works his way to full guard. Good work.
Powers throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Powers is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Cul wants to improve his position but Powers is controlling well.
Cul trying to control but Powers postures up.
Powers controlling the action here.

Cul is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Powers pulls his head out easily.
Powers is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Powers looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Cul with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Cul misses with a jab, cross combination.
Cul rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Powers moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Mark Powers is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Cul fails with an attempt to clinch.

Powers shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Powers winds up and cracks Cul with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Cul keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Cul flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Cul is trying to get back to full guard.

Mark Powers showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Powers has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
